Automotive Production Decreased in the First 11 Months

Automotive Industry Association (OSD) announced the production and export numbers and market data for January-November 2021. Accordingly, automotive production decreased by 11 percent in the 2020 months of this year compared to the same period of 0,3, to 1 million 144 thousand 356 units, while automobile production decreased by 7 percent to 706 thousand 265 units. Together with the tractor production, the total production was 1 million 195 thousand 232 units.

In the said period, the capacity utilization rate of the automotive industry was 64 percent. On the basis of vehicle group, capacity utilization rates were determined as 63 percent for light vehicles, 63 percent for heavy commercial vehicles and 74 percent for tractors.

Commercial vehicle production increased by 14 percent and truck production by 70 percent.

Commercial vehicle production increased by 11 percent in the 2020 months of this year compared to the same period of 14. Production in this period; increased by 41 percent in the heavy commercial vehicle group and 11 percent in the light commercial vehicle group.

On a product basis, truck production increased by 70 percent and minibus production by 7 percent, while bus production decreased by 31 percent. Total commercial vehicle production in the 11 months of the year was 438 thousand 91 units.

In the 11 months of the year, the commercial vehicle market increased by 18 percent, the light commercial vehicle market by 13 percent and the heavy commercial vehicle market by 57 percent.

Total market increased by 3 percent

In the period covering the first eleven months of the year, the total market increased by 3 percent compared to the previous year and amounted to 706 thousand 166 units. In this period, the automobile market decreased by 2 percent and became 518 thousand 294 units.

Considering the averages of the last 10 years, the total market decreased by 1 percent and the light commercial vehicle market by 5 percent, while the automobile market increased by 0,2 percent and the heavy commercial vehicle market by 3 percent in the January-November period. In this period, the share of domestic vehicles in automobile sales was 40 percent, while the share of domestic vehicles in the light commercial vehicle market was 55 percent.

Automotive, the locomotive of exports

In the January-November period, total automotive exports increased by 2 percent on unit basis compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 834 thousand 594 units. Automobile exports decreased by 6 percent to 507 thousand 399 units. According to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), automotive industry exports maintained its first place with a 13 percent share in total exports in the January-November period.

26,9 billion dollars of exports

In the January-November period, compared to the same period of the previous year, total automotive exports increased by 16 percent in dollar terms and 12 percent in euro terms. In this period, total automotive exports amounted to 26,9 billion dollars, while automobile exports increased by 1 percent to 8,4 billion dollars. Automobile exports in Euro terms decreased by 3 percent to 7 billion Euros. In the first eleven months of the year, exports of the main industry increased by 10 percent in dollar terms, while exports of the supply industry increased by 27 percent.
