Fear of Dental Treatment Invites Cancer

Turkey continues to neglect dental health. According to the World Health Organization, dental caries and gum disease are among the most common dental problems in the world. In Turkey, 35% of adults aged 44-73,8 have dental caries and 62% have gum diseases. Stating that oral and dental health has a great function in strengthening immunity, which has become more important in the pandemic, Novadent Responsible Manager Dt. Hüsnü Temel said, “Dental problems can cause many health problems, from stomach and heart diseases to cancer. To maintain oral and dental health, it is necessary to go to a dental check-up every 6 months. While developed countries can achieve this very well, in Turkey we still do not go to the dentist before our tooth decays. For this reason, while tooth loss increases, there is a greater need for implant treatment.”

Digital technologies reduce the margin of error to zero

Stating that they have made the implant treatment, which can last for months, faster, more practical and painless through the laboratory established within the Novadent Oral and Dental Health Polyclinic, Dt. Hüsnü Temel said, “Before the procedure, we take a three-dimensional chin film of our patients and prepare a treatment guide accordingly. With this guide, we can determine the position where the implants will be placed, and the diameter and length of the implants. Before the application, we try to use the coatings we prepared in the digital environment. Thus, we reduce the margin of error to zero and complete the treatment process in 1 day.”

we don't brush our teeth

Stating that the basis of the problems in oral and dental health is based on the lack of tooth brushing habit, Dt. Hüsnü Temel said, “During the pandemic period, we have neglected our dental cleaning more, as life continues from home. We have done the worst thing that can be done to our teeth by adopting a diet that contains excessive carbohydrates, fats and sugar. This situation also increased tooth loss. Implant and prosthetic treatments, which require frequent visits to the dentist, have been postponed due to the pandemic. However, thanks to the developing technology, we were able to reduce the duration of such treatments to 1 day.

Adequate and qualified bone quantity and healthy gums are essential!

Noting that implant treatment allows the construction of functional and long-lasting prostheses, Dt. Hüsnü Temel said, “Adequate and qualified bone quantity and healthy gums affect the success of the implant. Therefore, the density of the bone amount should be determined before the treatment. Otherwise, multiple implant trials have to be made. In this case, the treatment process for patients can become quite painful,” he added.
