Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) President Mustafa Yılmaz stated that a new era will be entered in terms of electricity market with the launch of Turkey's Automobile (TOGG) and said, “To establish the legal infrastructure and rules of a market where it is essential to serve all electric vehicles without discrimination. We are working to improve it,” he said.

EMRA Chairman Mustafa Yılmaz, in his speech at the opening of the International Energy and Environment Fair and Conference (ICCI 2021), held in digital environment, said that the Futures Electricity Market was opened on June 1 and the Futures Natural Gas Market will be activated on Friday.

Expressing that EMRA is working hard on electric vehicles, which is of great importance for Turkey's energy vision, during the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) epidemic, Chairman Yılmaz stated that they are working to establish the legal infrastructure and develop the rules of the electric vehicle market.

President Mustafa Yılmaz said, “With Turkey's automobile hitting the roads, we will enter a brand new era in terms of industry, information technologies and electricity market in our country.

Mustafa Yılmaz emphasized that a more flexible distribution system and system operation approach will be essential in the electricity market and continued as follows:

“Our basic motto in establishing the regulatory framework we are working on is to adopt an understanding that allows the development of the electric vehicle fleet. The effects of the Kovid-19 epidemic lasted a long time, but this type of crisis turns into advantages. We are working to establish the legal infrastructure and develop the rules of a market where it is essential to serve all electric vehicles without discrimination, with an understanding that can be defined as a more flexible, competitive, and kind of universal service obligation. We examine all examples of good practice in the world. We consult with relevant stakeholders. After the necessary legal arrangements are made in this regard, we will quickly put the secondary regulations into effect.”

Reiterating that the Futures Natural Gas Market will open on October 1, EMRA Chairman Yılmaz said, “Although these do not receive the attention they deserve in the media, they are historic steps for our industry.
