Hüsamettin Yalçın, the General Manager of Cardata, the largest data and analysis company in the automotive industry, made statements about changing the SCT base limits published in the Official Gazette. Pointing out that the number of vehicles entering the 50 percent SCT segment will increase with the regulation, Yalçın said that there will be a decrease in vehicle prices by more than 16 percent. Touching on the effect of the regulation on second-hand vehicle prices, Yalçın said, “This SCT base update will not have an immediate effect on second-hand vehicle prices in the short term. The decrease in second-hand prices is already in the second-hand vehicles of the C and B segments. But prices will not fall immediately, it will take two months, and it will not exceed 2-3 percent," he said.

Hüsamettin Yalçın, General Manager of Cardata, the largest data and second-hand pricing company in the automotive industry, made evaluations about changing the SCT base limits that will be valid in passenger car purchase and sale transactions. Using the expressions "This is the base update," Yalçın said, "A vehicle that is in the 80 percent SCT segment and whose price is 320 thousand TL will enter the 50 percent SCT segment with this update and its price will decrease to 265 thousand TL. This update affects vehicles whose price was between 276 thousand TL and 320 thousand TL before this regulation. If the price is over 320 thousand TL, there is no discount,” he said.

“There will be a 0 percent discount on 16 km models”

Pointing out that the number of vehicles falling into the 50 percent SCT segment will increase with the regulation made, Yalçın said, “With the increase in the number of vehicles falling into the 50 percent SCT segment, the prices will come back to some extent. Some 0 km vehicle models will have a discount of around 16 percent with the change of the SCT zone. With this discount, it means that the price of a vehicle worth 300 thousand TL will decrease by approximately 50 thousand TL. E.g; Renault Megane Sedan Joy 301 TCE EDC version, which is 900 thousand 1.3 TL today, will decrease from 80 percent to 50 percent with the new base. Thus, the price of the vehicle will decrease to approximately 250 thousand TL.

There will be a decrease of 50-60 thousand TL in hybrid vehicles!

“There will be significant reductions in many models that were previously borderline. Making the statement, “The brands that keep their prices in the lower segment with difficulty, were relieved with this update”, Yalçın emphasized that there will be a decrease of 50-60 thousand TL in hybrid vehicles. Yalçın said, “There were almost no vehicles left in the 45 and 50 percent SCT segments,” adding, “Most of the domestic production vehicles were in the 80 percent SCT segment. Those who had the power to purchase vehicles from the B segment before the update will now be able to purchase some models in the C segment in the upper segment. With the update, some B segment sales will shift to C segment. The congestion in the C segment will be overcome with some models.”

“It will take two months for the prices to decrease in the second hand”

Explaining that “As exchange rates continue to increase and therefore vehicle costs increase, bases will remain low in 3-4 months”, Yalçın also touched upon the effect of the said regulation on second-hand vehicles. Yalçın said, “This SCT base update will not have an immediate and short-term impact on used vehicle prices. In other words, used car prices do not fall immediately. After all, the decrease in second-hand prices, which is also in some models, occurs in C and B segment second-hand vehicles. It is also in some models. But the decrease in prices does not happen immediately, it will take two months, and it will not exceed 2-3 percent. In addition, dealers and galleries who buy high-cost second-hand vehicles will keep their second-hand vehicles higher than their new prices as the prices decrease. Dealers, galleries and artisans who can't stand it lower the prices second hand. The one with the power does not. He will wait for 3-4 more months so that the prices of new cars will rise again," he said.
