The decision was criticized by scientists on the grounds that there was no scientific study on the decision to administer the 4th dose vaccine. It was stated that while the 3rd dose vaccine application has just started in Turkey and other countries, there is no country where the 4th dose vaccine is administered.
Minister Koca made a statement
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca stated that there is no medical necessity for those who have received two doses of Sinovac and one dose of BioNTech vaccine, regarding the definition of the right to a fourth dose of vaccine. While announcing that the decision was taken exclusively for international travels, Koca said, “Only certain types of vaccines are accepted for entry to some countries.”

Making a statement on the subject on his Twitter account, Minister Koca said, “Only certain types of vaccines are accepted for entry to some countries. A special arrangement has been made for people who request to have 2 doses of mRNA vaccine to comply with the relevant country regulations. There is no additional vaccination requirement, except that it is requested for private travel. As of today, there is no need for an additional dose of vaccine for anyone who has received 2 doses of mRNA vaccine or 3 doses of inactivated vaccine. There is absolutely no such medical necessity," he said. (T24)
