Network Supported Solutions in Ground Operations Management

Network-assisted capability is defined as a capability acquisition that allows each element in the battlefield to reach the verified information they need, in the fastest way, through the use of information systems. With this skill acquisition, the main objectives are to increase the situational awareness of the operational area and the speed of command at all levels, to increase the tempo of the operation, to make the strike force more effective and to strengthen the survivability.

ASELSAN Network Supported Capability Systems were developed within the framework of these principles, including all elements from the highest command level to the level of a single soldier, single weapon/vehicle within this capability; Integrating with military and civilian systems from which it can obtain intelligence, especially the various Command and Control Information Systems (KKBS) previously added to the inventory of the Land Forces Command; With the aim of managing all these features through decision support mechanisms, which reveal interoperability definitions for systems/subsystems that may later be included in the Network Supported Capability framework, provide integration with communication and information processing systems and equipment developed for use in command posts and military vehicle platforms. It has a systems system architecture that includes specially developed KKBS Software and provides computer, server and network hardware solutions suitable for use in military environments on which these developed smart software will run.

In order for any military element to be able to acquire numerical command and control information system capabilities, the most basic skills that must be gained to that element are the working environment, digital voice and data communication, command and control information system software, and a robust computer and network with military characteristics that allow it to continue its combat activities with digital systems equipment. These capabilities are given to all elements within the Network Supported Capability architecture, taking into account the different environment, needs and abilities of each element, and thus all elements of the unity are included in the network.

Command Post Architecture and Operating Environment

One of the objectives of the network supported capability systems developed by ASELSAN has been determined as providing the appropriate environment for the digital capabilities to be provided to users to be used at the most advanced level.

In this context, ergonomic arrangements are made for ease of use on each platform, and the command posts used at battalion and higher levels are designed considering the need for a large number of users to work together. For the needs of the headquarters, the command post is supported by a command post tent, where the headquarters personnel can carry out their duties in a more comfortable environment. The command post tent has an architecture that can work integrated with armored command post vehicles if needed.

In accordance with the needs of the troops with a high need for maneuver, the command posts at this level are designed as armored vehicles, armored vehicles are modernized and command and control capabilities are gained in accordance with the needs of the headquarters personnel who will work at the command posts.

Secure Voice and Data Communication

The elements working within the network-supported capability architecture are capable of using the communication systems in the inventory of the Land Forces Command at the most effective level. In this context, the systems have the opportunity to communicate via TAFICS, TASMUS and software-based radios. Mobile elements that will perform voice and data communication over Software Based Radios are capable of effectively using modern waveforms (broadband waveform and command control waveform) provided by radios.

Interoperability Between Functional Area Command Control Information Systems

Thanks to the Network Supported Capability solution, which aims to provide digital data communication capability to the elements on the battlefield, the integration of functional area systems that are currently in use is ensured. The interoperability standards of Command and Control Information Systems, which are used by the Land Forces Command, are updated and developed within the Network Supported Capability architecture. Data can be exchanged with functional area systems such as Fire Support, Air Defense, Maneuver, Logistics, Personnel in accordance with defined standards. In line with the principles determined within the scope of Network Aided Architecture, interoperability will be ensured with Electronic Warfare functional area systems, which will be developed within ASELSAN in the near future, and Command Control Information Systems on modern vehicle and weapon systems. With all these integration capabilities, the Network Supported Capability systems developed by ASELSAN play a central role in the Network Supported Capability concept of the Land Forces Command.

In addition to the integration and interoperability capability with national systems, Network supported capability systems developed by ASELSAN also provide integration with NATO systems within the framework of the principles determined by NATO. In this context, NATO Common Operating Picture (AdatP-4733 NVG), NATO Soldier Systems (STANAG 4677), AdatP-3, Multilateral Interoperability Program, APP 6D Nato Military Symbology, Friendly Force Tracking (AdatP-36) and Variable Message Format (STANAG) 5519) standards, this capability is demonstrated at the highest level in NATO exercises attended.

Military-grade Equipment

Software Solutions

Within the network-supported capability architecture, there are software solutions for many platforms, from single soldiers to armored vehicle platforms, from sheltered vehicle systems to stationary command posts. These software solutions, integrated with all functional areas of the battlefield, include functions that support all the activities that the Commander and headquarters personnel will carry out in coordination with superior, subordinate and neighbor units at the operative level, within the scope of the planning, coordination, management and administration of the operation, thus enabling the realization of the network-supported capability in the battlefield. has enabling capabilities.

Future Vision

ASELSAN continues to work to meet user needs in line with the digitization goals of the Land Forces Command. In addition to the introduction of Network Supported Capability systems as a whole, the software, architectures, interoperability definitions and components introduced with this solution form the building blocks of similar solutions to be developed in the future.

Network Supported Capability systems developed by ASELSAN are capable of meeting the basic KKBS needs of the Land Forces Command in the near, medium and long term, thanks to their modular structure with the latest technologies. Thanks to its network-supported capability architecture, ASELSAN takes firm steps forward to become the only combat management system used by the Land Forces Command by responding to the combat and information exchange needs at different levels, taking into account the developing technologies.
