Daimler Truck AG and CATL signed a global supply agreement for lithium-ion battery cell modules for electric series production trucks in 2019. The vehicles in question include the Mercedes-Benz eActros, Freightliner eCascadia and Freightliner eM2. Introduced in September 2020 for efficient transportation on planned long-distance routes, the eActros LongHaul will have a range of approximately 500 km with a fully charged battery.

Mass production of the eActros is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2021. In addition, the serial production of the Mercedes-Benz eEconic truck, which has a low cabin design that provides high safety thanks to its wide viewing angle, and was developed together with eActros for urban solid waste collection, is planned to start in 2022. In the USA, the mid-range Freightliner eM2 and the heavy-duty Freightliner eCascadia are also subjected to practical customer testing. The eCascadia is scheduled to go into mass production in mid-2022 and the Freightliner eM2 by the end of 2022. A global fleet of over 2017 light-class FUSO eCanter trucks, with the first customer deliveries in 200, is used by numerous customers in Japan, the USA, Europe and Australia.
