With the CANiK brand, Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS), one of the world's leading light weapons manufacturers, and its subsidiaries, will attend IDEF'21 with a full staff. The 15th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF'21) will be held at Tüyap Fair and Congress Center in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul between 17-20 August 2021. Fair surprise of Samsun Yurt Savunma!
The surprise of SYS at the fair will be to introduce its newly developed 12.7 mm M2 Heavy Machine Gun, known as “domestic and national anti-aircraft gun”, to IDEF visitors. The products of its subsidiaries UNIDEF and UNIROBOTICS will also be showcased at SYS' stand, which was established on a total area of 400 square meters. C. Utku Aral, General Manager of Samsun Yurt Defense (SYS), who made a statement about the fair, said, “We will participate in IDEF'21 with our new products at a rate of 80 percent, as in other IDEF fairs. CANiK Smart and CANiK APP are among our new, technological and innovative products that will be introduced at this fair and will increase the quality of training. We are proud to exhibit our national anti-aircraft gun at this fair for the first time.”
“We will start mass production in August”
Domestic and national anti-aircraft; In the Turkish Armed Forces, vehicle convoys, battalion weight zone, battalion command post, basic fire support element of infantry units, anti-asymmetrical attack prevention of surface platforms, forward fire support and fixed-rotating wing air platforms of the elements involved in amphibious operations are equipped with a machine gun or a door machine gun. It can also be placed in the under-wing gun pod and used in all kinds of shooting support tasks. Stating that they have completed the R&D studies, tests and investments since 21 for the production of the M2 12.7 mm (.50 caliber) heavy machine gun, which will be showcased for the first time at IDEF'2012, Aral said, “We are planning to start mass production in August of this year. We have succeeded in producing the most durable and highest performance M2 QCB 12.7 mm heavy machine gun in the world. We plan to mass-produce 1.500 CANiK M2 QCBs per year at the first stage, and then increase this capacity by a thousand each year.”
Stating that they have already started to receive more than 1000 pre-orders from many countries for the domestic anti-aircraft gun, Aral gave the following information about the export potential:
“Especially in African and South East Asian countries, this weapon has a huge market. However, there are only 4 companies in the world that can produce this weapon. We are proud that the 5th will be a Turkish company. It takes at least 90 days for international manufacturers to obtain an export license for this weapon to be sold to different countries. We will be able to deliver 45 days after receiving the order. Many countries around the world apply the US-defined TOP standard for acceptance testing of M2 12.7mm heavy machine guns. Since the M2 QCB 12.7 mm heavy machine guns that CANiK will produce easily meet the TOP standard, the export potential will be very high.”

SYS will also hold meetings with important authorities at IDEF'21 Fair. The company will not disconnect during the fair with its global customers who cannot visit IDEF'21 due to the pandemic. Utku Aral said that they have completed their preparations to broadcast live on Youtube from the fair stand throughout the day, and continued his words as follows:
