Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, which accelerated the infrastructure works for electric vehicle charging stations in Bursa, which will host Turkey's first domestic, national and electric car, started to provide service by installing charging units in BURULAŞ parking lots.
Continuing its investments to make Bursa a healthier and more livable city, the Metropolitan Municipality has put into service the charging units it has set up in BURULAŞ car parks to both encourage the use of electric vehicles and to serve those who use electric vehicles. Accelerating its work as Turkey's first domestic and electric car will also be produced in Bursa, the Metropolitan Municipality set up charging units in the Merinos Indoor car park, Millet Bahçesi car park, Fevzi Çakmak car park, Doğanbey car park and Mihraplı open car park in the first stage.
“Bursa has serious experience in automotive”
Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş, who received information from the service provider company officials in the Mihraplı open car park, talked about details such as the use of the charging unit and the charging process. During the visit, AK Party Nilüfer District President Eşref Kurem and BURULUŞ General Manager Mehmet Kürşat Çapar were also present. Saying that the use of electric vehicles has started to increase in Turkey and in the world, President Alinur Aktaş stated that the rate of owning electric vehicles will also increase rapidly. Expressing that the process, which started with the 'Revolution' in Turkey and ended in failure for 60 years, gained momentum again with the statement of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on 27 December 2019, President Alinur Aktaş said, “On July 12, 2020, with the participation of our President and the Ministers, in Bursa Gemlik. With the groundbreaking ceremony, Turkey's first domestic and national automobile was started. The process continues quickly. Production of electric vehicles will begin in the last quarter of 2022. It is a special pride for our city that the project carried out by TOGG comes to life in Bursa. Bursa already has serious experience in automotive. With TOGG, this process will be crowned even more.”
Charging stations are in BURULAŞ car parks
Expressing that Bursa Metropolitan Municipality always produces projects in order to encourage clean energy projects at all times, Mayor Alinur Aktaş stated that they did not remain silent about the charging stations needed with the rapid increase in electric cars. President Aktaş said, “We have set up charging units in BURULAŞ car parks to be used by our citizens. The charging units in the parking lots are 22 kilowatt units. Our citizens can easily receive service individually. Energy supply facilities such as fuel stations will be provided," he said.
Voltrun Company Sales and Marketing Manager Veysel Yurdagel explained that electric vehicle charging stations are completely domestic production. Saying that any vehicle can be fully charged in 2-3 hours and can be managed completely on a mobile phone, Yurdagel stated that they provide service at approximately 400 charging points in Turkey. Stating that they have developed a new project with the support of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and BURULAŞ, Yurdagel said, “We offer services at 5 points in total, 10 of which are in car parks. In order for the use of electric vehicles to become widespread, the number of charging stations must first increase. At this point, the Metropolitan Municipality and BURULAŞ have exemplary initiatives for Turkey. The domestic car that Turkey has dreamed of for many years will also be electric. Bursa will be the birthplace of this car. The expansion of charging stations in Bursa will also be important in this sense. Bursa will be the capital of Turkey for electric cars,” he said.
