In the same period, automotive exports increased by 18 percent to 391 thousand 70 units, while automobile exports increased by 10 percent to 256 thousand 621 units. In the January-May period, the total market increased by 74 percent compared to the previous year and amounted to 328 thousand 679 units. The automobile market increased by 69 percent and reached 247 thousand 977 units. According to the averages of the last 10 years, the total market increased by 12 percent and the automobile market by 18 percent in the first five months; The light commercial vehicle market decreased by 2,4 percent and the heavy commercial vehicle market by 1,6 percent.

Accordingly, in the first five months of the year, total automotive production increased by 28 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 532 thousand 441 units, while automobile production increased by 23 percent to 353 thousand 580 units. Together with the tractor production, the total production was 556 thousand 513 units. During this period, the capacity utilization rate of the automotive industry was 65 percent. On the basis of vehicle group, the capacity utilization rates were 65% in light vehicles (cars + light commercial vehicles), 60% in heavy commercial vehicles and 77% in tractors.

Commercial vehicle production increased by 40 percent

In the January-May period, commercial vehicle production increased by 40 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In this period, while production in the heavy commercial vehicle group increased by 86 percent, the production in the light commercial vehicle group increased by 37 percent. In the same period, total commercial vehicle production was 178 units. Looking at the market, the commercial vehicle market increased by 861 percent, the light commercial vehicle market by 90 percent and the heavy commercial vehicle market by 83 percent in the January-May period compared to the same period of the previous year. Despite the increase in the heavy commercial vehicle group compared to the previous year, when the base effect is taken into account, the truck market shrank by 130 percent, the bus market by 2015 percent and the midibus market by 32 percent compared to 52.

The market was 10 percent above the 12-year averages

In the January-May period, the total market increased by 74 percent compared to last year and amounted to 328 thousand 679 units. In this period, the automobile market increased by 69 percent and reached 247 thousand 977 units. Considering the averages of the last 10 years, the total market increased by 2021 percent and the automobile market by 12 percent in the January-May 18 period; The light commercial vehicle market decreased by 24 percent and the heavy commercial vehicle market by 1,6 percent. In this period, the share of domestic vehicles in automobile sales was 40 percent, while the share of domestic vehicles in the light commercial vehicle market was 53 percent.

Exports increased by 18 percent in January-May

In the period covering the first five months of the year, automotive exports increased by 18 percent on a unit basis compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 391 thousand 70 units. Automobile exports increased by 10 percent to 256 thousand 621 units. In the same period, tractor exports increased by 106 percent and were recorded as 9 units. According to the data of the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM), automotive industry exports maintained its first place with a 700 percent share in total exports in the January-May period.

The sector realized an export of 5 billion dollars in 12,3 months.

In the January-May period, compared to the same period of the previous year, total automotive exports increased by 37 percent in dollar terms and by 26 percent in euro terms. In this period, total automotive exports amounted to 12,3 billion dollars, while automobile exports increased by 22 percent to 4,2 billion dollars. In Euro terms, automobile exports increased by 11 percent to 3,5 billion Euros. In the January-May period, exports of the main industry increased by 30 percent in dollar terms, while exports of the supply industry increased by 50 percent.
