Afyonkarahisar, which has one of the most important tracks in the world, will host the European 65/85 cc Motocross Championship and the Balkan Motorcycle Association (BMU) European Motocross Championship, where young racers compete this weekend. Athletes from the Balkan countries Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Moldova, Greece, Albania, Hungary, Croatia and TRNC are expected to participate in the competition, which will be held with the support of Afyonkarahisar Municipality.

THREE DIFFERENT CHAMPIONS TOGETHER

The races, where technique, skill, courage and balance stand out, will be held in Afyon Motor Sports Center Motocross Track by taking Covid19 precautions. In the championship, which will be organized by the Anatolian Motor Sports Club, the most skillful and fearless pilots of Europe and Turkey will be listed on the starting iron. In the second leg race of the European 65&85 Motocross Championship where young athletes compete, the third leg of the BMU European Motocross Championship and the first race of the Turkish Motocross Championship, the athletes will sweat to get to the award podium.

CUP CHALLENGE IN 9 DIFFERENT CLASSES

In addition to many well-known motocrossers from Turkey, strong and assertive racers from abroad will participate in the championship. 9 different categories; The championship, which will be held in MX, MX1, MX2, MX2 Junior, MXSenior, Veteran, 50cc, 65cc and 85 cc, will start on Saturday, June 12 with training and qualifying. On the same day, the first stage races of the 50 cc classes with MX and tiny athletes will be held. On Sunday, June 13, the racers will line up to the start bar in two stages.

Emphasizing the importance of the organization being held in Afyonkarahisar, our Mayor Mehmet Zeybek thanked the Turkish Motorcycle Federation for their efforts. Stating that these races are the first indicator of normalization, Zeybek President said that the World Motocross Championship, which was postponed last year due to the pandemic, is aimed to be held in September.

Turkish Motorcycle Federation AS President Mahmut Nedim Akulke thanked our Mayor Mehmet Zeybek for his support. Noting that there will be a full motorcycle feast in Afyonkarahisar at the weekend, Akulke said, “We will host young racers from Europe and especially Balkan countries at Afyonkarahisar Motocross Track at the weekend. With the World Championship, the interest in our country started to increase. Afyonkarahisar track is among the most curious tracks. The Balkan Championship, which includes European youth and racers from Balkan countries, will be an experience for our athletes. At the same time, athletes from all countries will compete together. I would like to thank our Governor Gökmen Çiçek, our Mayor Mehmet Zeybek and our Deputy Mayor Süleyman Karakuş for their unwavering support.”
