PARS IV 6×6 Special Operations Vehicle Tests Continue

The period of the Pars 6×6 Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicle begins in the Turkish Armed Forces. The last official statement regarding the 6×6 Pars Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicle was made by the Presidency of Defense Industries of the Republic of Turkey. The Presidency's social media account on Twitter said, "The PARS IV 6×6 Special Operations Vehicle with the highest protection in its class, developed as part of the 6×6 Mine-Protected Vehicle MKKA Project, continues its qualification tests. PARS IV, designed as a vehicle beyond existing vehicles with effective protection against Handmade Explosives, survivability infrastructure including high mine and ballistic protection, new technology mission equipment, will be delivered to our security forces this year.” statement was included.

In July 2020, the first assembly of the Pars 6 × 6 Mine Protected Vehicle, developed within the scope of the project initiated by the Presidency of Defense Industry in line with the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces, was carried out.

Speaking at the ceremony, President of the Presidency of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir said, “After the qualification tests that will continue until the end of the year, all of our vehicles will enter the inventory in 2021 and will be available to the TAF for the first time. This vehicle, which has some features that we call the first in the world, also has a very high export potential. I hope this capable vehicle will be beneficial to our security forces and Turkish Armed Forces. We will start this process with 12 pieces. We hope it will continue with more products.” had spoken.

TÜMOSAN for Domestic and National Engines

On December 25, 2019, TÜMOSAN Motor and Traktör Sanayi A.Ş. (TÜMOSAN) and FNSS Defense Systems Inc. (FNSS).

On October 18, 2018, negotiations were started between TÜMOSAN and FNSS for domestic and national engines to be used in the ÖMTTZA Project. On April 4, 2019, the Presidency of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) and FNSS Savunma Sistemleri A.Ş. (FNSS) within the scope of the Special Purpose Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicles Project contract, TÜMOSAN Motor ve Traktör Sanayi A.Ş. (TÜMOSAN) and FNSS Defense Systems Inc. The Domestic Engine Supply Subcontractor Contract, which includes the supply of 100 engines and integrated logistics support services, was signed on December 25, 2019.

Special Purpose Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicles Project

In the contract, in which the integration of a domestic and national engine into military vehicles was planned for the first time; Diesel engines developed by TÜMOSAN engineers entirely with domestic facilities will be used in 100 8×8 and 6×6 vehicles that FNSS will provide to the Land Forces Command and the Gendarmerie General Command.

In the contract, a project model was designed that includes the integration and qualification of the engines already developed by TÜMOSAN into Special Purpose Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicles in accordance with the project requirements, and the adaptation, production, integration and qualification of all engines will be done domestically.

In project scope:

  • 30 6 × 6 Command Vehicles
  • 45 8 × 8 Sensor Discovery Vehicles
  • 15 6 × 6 Radar Vehicles
  • 5 8 × 8 CBRN Vehicles
  • 5 8 × 8 Armored Combat Vehicles will be delivered.

Within the scope of the ÖMTTZA Project; ASELSAN will design and produce 7.62mm and 25mm unmanned weapon systems, electro-optics, radar, communication, command control and navigation systems to be used in vehicles, and domestic engines to be integrated into vehicles will be developed and produced by TÜMOSAN.
