The Effects of Mucilage on Naval Ships Investigated

Our Naval Forces Command formed a technical committee to determine the possible effects of mucilage (sea saliva) surrounding the Sea of ​​Marmara on ships in the navy. The technical committee, which started its work at the Shipyard Command in Gölcük, will present the report it will prepare to the Ministry of National Defense.

Within the scope of the sea cleaning campaign launched on 8 June by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization within the framework of the Marmara Sea Action Plan, cleaning activities were started in 31 regions determined in Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Yalova and Tekirdağ provinces.

While the Turkish Armed Forces contributed to these studies, it also implemented a new study.

The Naval Forces Command started a study in the shipyards to determine the possible effects of mucilage.

Technical committees were formed for the study initiated to determine whether the mucilage affects the ships. The delegations continue their investigations at the Shipyard Command in Gölcük. It is planned to present the report to be created by the delegations to the Ministry of National Defense and to develop a course of action according to the report.
