54th T129 ATAK Helicopter Entered Land Forces Command Inventory

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) delivered 4 T2021 ATAK Helicopter to the Land Forces Command on June 1, 129.

In the statement made on the official Twitter account of the Ministry of National Defense, "Another T-2 ATAK helicopter with phase-129 configuration has been taken into the inventory of our Land Forces Command. Thus, our 54th #ATAK helicopter was included in the inventory. In addition to the existing Electronic Warfare Self Protection Systems with ATAK Phase-2 developed by our domestic defense industry companies with national means; With the Radar Warning Receiver, Laser Warning Receiver, Radio Frequency Jammer Systems, the self-protection efficiency of the helicopters has increased.” statements were included.

Within the scope of the T129 ATAK project carried out by the Presidency of Defense Industries, 63 ATAK helicopters produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries-TUSAŞ to date have been delivered to the security forces. TUSAŞ delivered at least 54 helicopters (3 of which are Phase-2) to the Land Forces Command, 6 to the Gendarmerie General Command, and 3 ATAK helicopters to the General Directorate of Security. 2 of the ATAK FAZ-21 configuration, for which the first deliveries were made, will be delivered in the first stage.

The T129 ATAK Helicopter was developed by using national capabilities unique to Turkey in order to meet the attack helicopter needs of the Turkish Armed Forces. The mission and weapon systems of the T129 ATAK Helicopter have been developed with national means and capabilities in line with the operational needs of the Turkish Armed Forces. The performance of the T129 ATAK Helicopter has been optimized for demanding “hot weather-high altitude” missions, and it effectively functions in the operations of the Turkish Armed Forces with its high maneuverability and performance capability in day and night conditions.

Within the scope of ATAK additional contracts, 15 ATAK helicopters will be delivered to the Gendarmerie General Command. According to ASELSAN's 2020 Annual Report, 129 ATAK helicopters are procured for the Gendarmerie General Command within the scope of T15 ATAK Helicopter additional contracts. In 2020, the Gendarmerie General Command kit deliveries started. SD-14 was signed for the order items included in the contract.

In the statement made by the Ministry of Defense of the Philippines, it was stated that the first two of the 6 T129 Attack Helicopters to be procured from Turkey are expected to be delivered in September 2021. “Based on the latest developments, we expect the first two units of T129 Attack Helicopters for the Philippine Air Force to be delivered this September,” said Dir Arsenio Andolong, Spokesperson for the Philippine Ministry of Defense.

In the statement, it was stated that a total of six T269.388.862 ATAK Attack Helicopters were purchased from the Turkish Aerospace Industries, through the government-to-government sales channel, under a contract with a total value of 129 USD. According to the ministry, the remaining four T2021 Attack ATAK helicopters are expected to be delivered in February 129 (two units) and February 2022 (two units), respectively, following delivery in September 2023.
