Diesel car sales decreased, electric and hybrid sales increased

In the first four months of this year in Turkey, compared to the same period of 4, diesel-powered automobile sales, whose production has been gradually reduced and whose production is planned to be stopped in the future, decreased by 2020 percent, while electric and hybrid car sales increased by more than 10,3 percent .

According to the Automotive Distributors Association (ODD) data, the total market for cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey grew by 2021 percent in January-April 72,4 compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 260 thousand 148.

In the said period, automobile sales increased by 68,7 percent and light commercial vehicle sales increased by 204 percent to 839.

When the automobile market was evaluated by engine type as of the end of April, it was noteworthy that the diesel engine automobile sales, whose production was gradually reduced and whose production is planned to be stopped completely, drew attention. The fact that manufacturers offer fewer diesel-powered vehicles to the market compared to previous years is also considered to be one of the important factors in the decrease in diesel sales.

The sales of hybrid and electric cars, which are expected to replace internal combustion engine cars in the future, continued to increase, as has been the case in recent years.

ALTHOUGH DIESEL SALES DECREASED IN THE SECOND PLACE

In the January-April period, gasoline-powered cars ranked first with sales of 131 units. Diesel car sales were 463 thousand 48.

While hybrid car sales reached 15, auto gas car sales were recorded as 101 and electric car sales were recorded as 9. As of the end of April last year, 414 thousand 444 gasoline, 58 thousand 142 diesel, 54 thousand 3 auto gas, 5 thousand 361 hybrid and 3 electric cars were sold.

Thus, as of the end of April, gasoline-powered automobile sales increased 126,1 percent and auto gas-powered automobile sales increased by 75,6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while diesel car sales declined by 10,3 percent.

Hybrid car sales increased 293,9 percent and electric car sales increased 286,1 percent. This high rate of increase was due to the relatively low sales of hybrid and electric cars in the January-April 2020 period.

SHARE OF HYBRID AND ELECTRIC AUTOMOBILE INCREASED

The share of diesel cars in sales, which was 4 percent in the first 44,5 months of last year, decreased to 2021 percent in the same period of 23,6.

The share of gasoline-powered cars increased from 47,9 percent to 64,2 percent during this period, and the share of auto gas cars rose from 4,4 percent to 4,6 percent. The share of electric cars in total sales increased from 0,1 percent to 0,2 percent, and the share of hybrid cars from 3,2 percent to 7,4 percent.

January-April period data show that although the increase trend in the sales of electric and hybrid cars continues, the share of electric and hybrid cars, which have just become widespread in the world, from the Turkish automobile market is still at low levels. zamHe pointed out that the SCT increase in electric cars did not have a downward effect on sales.
