The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team has completed the preparations for the new challenge in the third race of the 2021 FIA World Rally Championship.

The Croatia Rally, which will take place on 22-25 April, will be one of the new WRC rallies, such as the Arctic Rally Finland. Same zamThe race in Croatia at the moment will be the first real asphalt rally since 2019, except for the Monte Carlo Rally in winter conditions.

Leading the Brands and Drivers Championship, Toyota team aims to continue the strong performance of Toyota Yaris WRC on asphalt in Croatia.

20-year-old Kalle Rovanperä comes to the rally as the youngest driver to lead the WRC, while Sébastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans are just 8 points behind his teammate.

While the center of the Croatia Rally will be Zagreb, the stages will be held on asphalt roads with different characteristics. While the pilots are waiting for worn or completely fluid surfaces, the stages will come to the fore, some of which are fast and some are narrow and bends.

After the test drives on Thursday, the rally will begin on Friday morning. Pilots will complete 3 challenging stages of 300 kilometers in 20 days.

Takamoto Katsuta, who took the sixth place in the first two races of the season, will compete with the fourth Yaris WRC within the scope of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing WRC Challenge Program.

Making evaluations before the race, Jari-Matti Latvala, the team captain, stated that it would be very interesting to compete in Croatia for the first time in the WRC and said, “A very fast asphalt rally is waiting for us. The surface looks abrasive for tires in general, but in some areas it is rather slippery. This means a tough rally for pilots. Normally the Yaris WRC is extremely strong on asphalt, as we have seen in Monza and Monte Carlo lately. "But we cannot take anything lightly and we must work very hard to be successful," he said.
