In this context, the total production in the January-March period increased by 1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 345 thousand 619 units, while automobile production decreased by 10 percent to 211 thousand 877 units.
With the production of tractors, the total production was 360 thousand 766 units. Especially in the first quarter, parallel to the increase in commercial activities, the production of light commercial vehicles and trucks increased compared to last year. While total production in the commercial vehicle group increased by 2021 percent in the January-March period of 26, this rate was 46 percent in heavy commercial vehicles and 25 percent in light commercial vehicles. In the same period, total automotive exports decreased by 6 percent compared to the previous year and reached 261 units. The increase in commercial vehicle production attracted attention
It was observed that the commercial vehicle group had a significant positive contribution in the first three months, when total production increased compared to the previous year. This increase was recorded as 26 percent in the heavy commercial vehicle group and 46 percent in the light commercial vehicle group. During this period, the total commercial vehicle market increased by 105 percent, the light commercial vehicle market by 73 percent and the heavy commercial vehicle market by 70 percent.
The total market increased to 206 thousand 597 units
Turkey's automotive market, last year in the first quarter of 2021 recorded 61 percent increase over the same period and the market amounted to 206 thousand 597 pieces. During this period, the automobile market increased 57 percent and reached 156 thousand 464 units. Considering the averages of the last 10 years, the total market increased by 35 percent, the light commercial vehicle market by 14 percent, the heavy commercial vehicle market by 3 percent, and the automobile market by 44 percent in the January-March period. Considering the imported vehicle shares in the domestic market; In the January-March period of 2021, the share of imported vehicles in the automobile market was 62 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while the share of imported vehicles in the light commercial vehicle market was 45 percent. The total market in March alone was 94, with an increase of 99 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Total automotive exports decreased by 6 percent, commercial vehicle exports increased by 25 percent
In the first quarter of 2021, total exports of vehicles decreased by 6 percent in terms of units compared to the same period of the previous year, amounting to 261 units. During this period, automobile exports decreased by 109 percent to 19 units, while commercial vehicle exports increased by 155 percent. Tractor exports were 457 thousand 25 units, roughly parallel to the same period of 2020. Automobile exports in euro terms decreased by 16 percent and amounted to 2,2 billion euros.
