Akio Toyoda graduated from Keio University with a law degree and then joined Toyota in 1984, graduating with a master's degree in business from Babson College in the USA. The World Car Person of the Year award was created in 2018 to recognize a person who made significant contributions to the global automotive industry in the previous year. This is one of six awards presented annually by the World Car Awards program established in 2003.
