Gendarmerie Supplies 30 T-70 Helicopters

Gendarmerie General Command published its 2020 Activity Report. In the report, which also touches on aviation projects, it was stated that 70 of the T-3 helicopters, which the General Directorate of Forestry gave up to buy, were allocated to the Gendarmerie General Command, and the delivery was planned to be completed in 2026. Within the scope of the TSK Helicopter Procurement Project, which was included in 2008, 21 T-2014 helicopter contracts were signed between Skorsky and the Defense Industry Presidency under the main contractor of TAI on February 30, 70.

70 of the 109 T-70 helicopters to be manufactured by TAI within the scope of the T-20 Utility Helicopter Program were reserved for the Ministry of Forestry. With the kits to be installed under these helicopters, the helicopters would be used for firefighting as in the USA. However, the number was reduced from 20 to 3 for the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces and Gendarmerie.

T-70 General Purpose Helicopter Program

Under the program, TAI main contractor and Sikorsky, ASELSAN, TEI, the subcontract Alp Aviation company, Sikorsky Aircraft company of which will be developed starting from the S70 the helicopter 109 T70 General Purpose Helicopter, with production models under license in Turkey over the next 10 years to different users it will be delivered.

Within the scope of the project, the main contractor TAI completed the production, final assembly processes, tests and integrated logistics support of all main parts of T70 helicopters such as cabin, cockpit, tail cone, horizontal and vertical tail, main and tail rotor blades; Aselsan develops and integrates basic avionics and helicopter cockpit development (IMAS) with Sikorsky; TEI produces the T700 engine; Alp Aviation, on the other hand, will manufacture and assemble landing gears, gearbox detail parts and dynamic parts.
