Aesthetic Dentist Dr. Efe Kaya gave information on the subject.
1. Improper Oral Hygiene
When the food that accumulates on our teeth is not cleaned, it causes gum inflammation. This will lead to bleeding gums and bad breath. Regular daily brushing has a very important role in preventing bad breath.
2. Tooth Decays
Untreated decays form cavities on teeth. Food residues accumulating on these cavities will cause severe halitosis.
3. Dental Stones
There are bacteria and food residues in the structure of the tartar. Uncleaned tartar
and the bacteria that grow on it cause bad breath.
4. Tongue Not Brushing
In some individuals, the indentations and protrusions genetically located on the tongue may be deep. In such a case, food residues on the tongue will cause bad breath.
5. Unsuitable Prosthetics
Prostheses that are not compatible with the soft tissues in the mouth and do not have sufficient polish cause nutrient accumulation and infection in the gums. Oral prostheses must be very well polished and must be in perfect harmony with the gums.
6. Use of Tobacco Products
Smoking decreases the saliva flow rate in the mouth. This increases the growth of bacteria in the mouth. The bacteria that multiply cause bad breath.
7.Use of Alcohol
Alcohol triggers the formation of odor as it causes dry mouth. Alcohol creates components in the body that can react and cause bad breath.
8. Diseases
Diabetes can cause acetone issue to form in the mouth. Diseases such as reflux, gastritis and stomach ulcers cause bad breath. Respiratory infections and kidney diseases can also cause bad breath.
