ASELSAN's Domestic Solution for the Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Targeting Systems of UAVs

Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank reminded that the electro-optical reconnaissance, surveillance and targeting systems (CATS) received by Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicles from Canada have started to be embargoed, and that the CATS system developed by ASELSAN has been successfully tested and used actively in UAVs. reported that it has started.

Varank visited Akyurt facilities where ASELSAN's Microelectronics Guidance and Electro-Optics Sector Presidency is located. Varank was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and ASELSAN Chairman and General Manager Haluk Görgün. Receiving information about future planning with the new systems developed by ASELSAN, Varank examined the studies on site.

Making a statement after his visit, Varank said that ASELSAN has especially developed and produced electro-optic and avionic systems at Akyurt facilities.

Turkey's great efforts in producing their own technologies that are in striking Varank in recent years, "one of the most important areas of the defense industry. Many countries, Turkey is currently implementing an embargo secret or open, the product brings many constraints. In recent years we have achieved together diligently Turkey, nativism in the ratio of 20 per cent over the 70 percent interest in the defense industry. " he spoke.

Varank emphasized the importance of producing the products produced at the platform level as well as the equipment within them, and said, “Even if you develop a system yourself, you cannot use those systems if you cannot produce a very critical part. Thus the facilities at ASELSAN Akyurt important in this sense means to reduce dependence on foreign sources in Turkey and added develop valuable products. " found the assessment.

"USED AS ACTIVE"

Varank gave information about the electro-optical reconnaissance, surveillance and targeting system "CATS" developed by ASELSAN for air platforms.

“These are systems that do both observation and laser marking in unmanned aerial vehicles. Recently, Canada has started to impose an embargo on CATS systems purchased by Bayraktar and banned its exports. This system developed by ASELSAN has been successfully tested in UAVs and is now actively used. The cameras used in UAVs, which are restricted to purchase from abroad, were these systems, and they were made very successfully here. "

Varank, stated that ASELSAN's significant capabilities in electro-optical field, told us that is very important to develop systems related to Turkey's defense and security.

Pointing out that the company has also developed offensive systems, Varank said:

“ASELSAN has very important capabilities especially in the field of aviation. Avionic systems and systems related to their management are also developed here. ASELSAN very effective platform of avionics systems will produce very important in Turkey in the coming period. All these systems are designed and developed; applications are made to our planes and helicopters. Both our companies that produce these platforms and ASELSAN, which supports them in this sense, are really doing very successful works. "

"WE WORK IN THE DEFENSE INDUSTRY WITH TÜBİTAK SAGE AND DIRECTOR"

Varank reminded that together with the affiliates of the ministry, TÜBİTAK Defense Industry Research and Development Institute (SAGE) and TÜBİTAK Advanced Technologies Research Institute (İLTAREN), they also operate in the defense industry.

Varank stated that during the ASELSAN visit, discussions were also held on what could be done in the next period, and continued as follows:

“The capabilities we see here, the investment in people is really impressive. We will be able to see ASELSAN much more successfully both in the defense industry and in other commercial systems in the upcoming period. Recently, turnover and export figures for the last year were announced. We have 7 companies among the world's largest defense industry companies, one of which is ASELSAN. Hopefully the capabilities of their infrastructure using both here and in other ASELSAN of Turkey will be able to see a much more successful in the future. "
