Supply Association of Automotive Manufacturers (TAYSAD), which commissioned for the 2021 "R & D Competency Development Program", the first event under Turkey's Automobile Enterprise Group (TOGG) and realized.
TAYSAD members of the immediate future of electric vehicles in the world of online events organized under the targeted work for a healthier integration, "Global Ecosystem and Turkey Mobility of the Future" on the topic was discussed. TOGG CEO GurcanTurkoglu Karakas and TAYSAD Deputy Chairman Kemal who accompanied printer presentations online meeting, was initially discussed the current situation and the near future predictions of the arrival of electric vehicles in the world and Turkey. TOGG CEO GurcanTurkoglu Karakas, Turkey, they want to create the core of the system mobility and infrastructure partnerships in the square to bring their work takes place mostly stating that members of TAYSAD; “We have provided our supply infrastructure with organizations consisting of 75 percent of our business partners and TAYSAD members, and 25 percent with foreign-based organizations. At the end of 2022, with the first mass production vehicle coming off the belt, we will initially be at 51 percent localization. We believe that we will increase this rate to 2025 percent by the end of 68 ”.
Kemal Yazıcı, Vice Chairman of the Board of TAYSAD, stated that with the increase of electric vehicles, the production of parts specific to electric and autonomous vehicles will become increasingly important in the supply industry, saying, “Today, the ratio of parts produced for conventional vehicles to total produced parts is 85 percent by 2030. It will decrease to 40-45. In other words, if the Supply Industry does not change, it will lose business and maybe face the danger of closing. As the supply industry, new technologies; "We can have it through technology transfer through license or partnership, or through local R&D studies, and we should try both ways at the same time." In the printer presentation, he also announced the Technology Roadmap of TAYSAD.
TAYSAD held an important event, which is on the agenda of the automotive and supplier industry, and where the data about the electric vehicles world was discussed. "Global Mobility Ecosystem Turkey and the Future" at the meeting Gürcan Karakas online TOGG CEO and Deputy Chairman Kemal TAYSAD printer, they discussed the point where they made presentations of the mobility industry. In the event, which 300 people consisting of senior executives and R&D department managers followed online, the point where the TOGG project has reached and TAYSAD's New Technologies Roadmap were announced.
In his presentation, Karakaş first stated that the rules of the game have changed all over the world and the car has turned into a fast and smart device, summarizing the future of automotive in numerical terms; “In the classical sense, the profitability of the automobiles produced today and their units within the economy of scale are also decreasing. We see that especially the revenues arising from new technology and mobility bring double-digit profitability and are growing rapidly. We see that all producers, whether they traveled 150 years ago or just recently, should turn to these profitable areas. Activities in this new field are multidimensionally outside the framework that a company will control alone. This situation shows us that organizations that are more open to collaboration and user-oriented will be successful. In the future, we see that those who can be agile will be successful, not those who have big and a lot of money ”.
"We want Turkey to form the core of the system mobility"
Touching on Turkey's car project in his presentation to the CEO TOGG King, "First of all, we have two goals. We want to create a global brand whose intellectual and industrial property rights belong entirely to our country. Our goal is to have a new generation technology in its basic components, to be designed as a completely innate electrical and smart device rather than a transformation, and to be globally competitive. The automobile world has the highest global competition after consumer electronics. In line with our plans, we will be the first SUV manufacturer to emerge from new generation established companies like us, which are not classic manufacturers in Europe. Secondly, we want to create the core of the system mobility Turkey. The classic car world begins with the production concept and ends with sales. It starts here as well, but if we manage to be smart, empathic, connected, autonomous and shared, new worlds are opened. User-oriented mobility approach is our philosophy ”.
75 percent of TOGG's domestic business partners are TAYSAD members!
Referring to the cooperation work with TAYSAD In his speech King, "75 percent of our business partners from Turkey and the majority of organizations are composed of members of TAYSAD, while 25 percent originated overseas, we provide our organization with supply infrastructure. At the end of 2022, with the first mass production vehicle coming off the line, we will initially be at 51 percent localization rate. We believe we will increase this to 2025 percent by the end of 68. We see that this figure is between 30 and 62 percent in other passenger vehicles. TAYSAD members need to quickly organize new collaborations with software, electronics world, start-ups and other members as pioneers, not followers. We need to produce ideas and solutions rather than products in the future, ”he said.
TAYSAD's New Technologies Roadmap
TAYSAD Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors Kemal Yazıcı, on the other hand, explaining the processes waiting for the automotive supply industry, “A carbon neutral world is targeted in 2050 and electrification is important in this regard. We can say that the proportion of internal combustion engines will decrease to 2030 percent in 50 and below 2035 percent in 40. The proportion of autonomous level 3 and 4 vehicles will reach 2030 percent by 15. As a supply industry, we need to be ready for the software required for autonomous driving. While the ratio of parts produced for conventional vehicles to total produced parts is around 85 percent today, this ratio will decrease to 2030-40 percent by 45. In other words, if the supply industry cannot change, it will lose business and maybe face the danger of closing. As the supply industry, new technologies; "We can have it through technology transfer through license or partnership, or through local R&D studies, and we should try both ways at the same time." Touching on TAYSAD New Technologies Roadmap in his presentation, Yazıcı said, “Within the scope of our 2030 vision; We aim to move the Turkish automotive supplier industry to the top 10 in global production in the global automotive market with design, technology and supply power. In this direction, we determined 4 main titles, namely "New Technologies", "Export Increase", "Competitive Supply Industry" and "Strong Association". We have prepared detailed plans for 2021 under these headings, ”he said.
Plans for 2021 and the "R&D Competence Development Program"
Within the scope of detailed plans, Yazıcı also mentioned TAYSAD's 2021 New Technology Plan and R&D Competence Development Program; “We first met with TOGG CEO Gürcan Karakaş to understand OEM expectations. We would like to repeat this event with other OEM CEOs and executives. We would like to talk to the relevant ministries on the government side for new parts and systems on how to reach the technology regarding the cooperation and incentive mechanism. We will organize trainings, technology presentations and technology visits under the R&D Competence Development Program. In this context, what is the technology roadmap, how? What is the innovation culture? How do we prepare for the issues related to the 2050 carbon target that pose an obstacle to exports? Along with the answers to these questions, we discuss topics such as R&D, project management, R&D infrastructures, systems for electrical and autonomous vehicles. We aim to bring together experts in their fields with our members throughout the year, bring together our members with start-ups, and offer them our capabilities both financially and technologically by making technology days for OEMs. Again, this year, we will organize a 19-day training program covering many topics from R&D strategies to innovation management, from part designs to virtual-physical test interpretation, ”he said.
