Porsuk Dam, Porsuk Stream and Fish Deaths Following ESCEVDER

Eskişehir Environmental Protection and Development Association (ESCEVDER) Board members visited TC Eskişehir Provincial Director of Environment and Urbanization Mr. Hikmet Çelik in his office to get information and exchange ideas about the Porsuk Dam, Porsuk Stream and fish deaths.

Eskişehir Provincial Director of Environment and Urbanization Hikmet Çelik stated that samples were taken at certain periods in Porsuk Stream, which passes through our city and is the only water source of the city and used in agricultural irrigation, and reminded that there are instant access to these data.

He shared the information that the samples taken from Porsuk tea are within the acceptance limits, including the exit of the old water treatment plants, but the amount of oxygen in the water in Çavlum and later settlements has decreased and the amount of nitrogen originating from agriculture and animal husbandry has increased and said that Porsuk tea is not polluted. He added that domestic and chemical wastes do not mix in the borders of our city and agricultural pollution has increased to the badger tea.

Hikmet Çelik emphasized that "fish deaths in Porsuk can be caused by pesticides as well as by temperature changes".
