TÜBİTAK Defense Industry Research and Development Institute (SAGE), which carries out its activities with the slogan of "National R&D for National Defense", continues to serve the Turkish Armed Forces with its important projects in the field of defense industry.
TÜBİTAK SAGE touched upon the connector point, which is a critical system for ammunition, after its contribution to the thermal battery, the heart of the ammunition.
As TÜBİTAK SAGE Director Gürcan Okumuş reported, SAGE has been working on the development and qualification of connectors in accordance with military standards for approximately 1.5 years within the scope of the National Connector Development Project (MİLKON). As a result of this comprehensive and systematic work lasting 1.5 years, TÜBİTAK SAGE has acquired the know-how on connector development and qualification in accordance with MIL-DTL-38999/83538 military standards.
Connectors needed in the defense industry must function smoothly in harsh conditions (between + 175 ° C and -65 ° C). Many such harsh connectors are very costly and may be subject to export clearance.
System engineering studies were carried out by analyzing tens of thousands of pages of documents for MİLKON at TÜBİTAK SAGE, which gives the right to be an R&D institute in this regard. On the other hand, the matrix of 43 different tests referred to by the standards was removed and the infrastructure was provided.
Director of the Institute who have read, TUBITAK SAGE's connector series that did not make production planning with respect, providing support to companies related to the housing sector, he said it should ensure that they wanted to get rid of a major import items of Turkey.
