Airbus Delivers Belgian Air Force's First A400M Aircraft

The Belgian Air Force received the first order of seven Airbus A400M military transport aircraft. The plane was delivered to the customer on the A400M final assembly line in Seville, Spain, and then made its first flight to the 15th Wing Union Base, where it will be deployed in Melsbroek, Belgium.

This A106M, known as the MSN400, will be operated in a binational unit, with a total of eight ordered aircraft, seven from the Belgian Air Force and one from the Luxembourg Armed Forces.

The second A400M aircraft will be delivered to Belgium in early 2021.

"With the delivery of this aircraft, all of our launch customers now have an A400M," said Alberto Gutierrez, Head of Military Aircraft, Airbus Defense and Space. MSN106 will join the Luxemburg aircraft in its bi-national unit, operated jointly with Belgium. "Despite the challenges associated with Covid-19, our teams have delivered 10 planned aircraft this year, increasing the global fleet to 98 aircraft."
