3rd ASELSAN Academy Workshop Completed

The 3rd ASELSAN Academy Workshop, hosted by Gazi University online, was completed after three days of sessions. The closing session of the workshop was held on November 4 at the Architect Kemaleddin Hall of the university.

The program started with the Turkish National Anthem, after a minute of silence for those who lost their lives in the earthquake in İzmir, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades in arms.

Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız began his speech by expressing his pride in hosting the 3rd ASELSAN Academy Workshop as Gazi University. Prof. Dr. Moses Stars, four research universities created by the contribution of ASELSAN was pointed out that Turkey's strategic importance for the Academy. Rector Prof. Dr. Yıldız, ASELSAN Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, Chairman of ASELSAN Academy Board Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çelik and those who contributed to the workshop, and wished success to 40 students who graduated. Finally, the Rector wished God's mercy to those who lost their lives in the earthquake disaster in Izmir and urgent healing to the wounded.

Görgün: "ASELSAN Has Been Like The Campus Of Four Universities"

ASELSAN Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün began his speech by expressing the satisfaction of having its first graduates at the workshop hosted by Gazi University. Prof. Dr. Görgün stated that ASELSAN is a distinguished and backbone company of our defense industry, where information is transformed into economy in real terms, technology and R&D are systematically implemented, and said, “Academics have a research and development dimension in one aspect, and a mission of raising people who are beneficial to society on the other. We are also ASELSAN, Turkey and employ the best engineers, we are working with them, "he said.

Stating that Gazi University, METU, ITU and Gebze Technical University have come to this day with the same excitement as ASELSAN in ASELSAN Academy, Görgün said, “We have shaped the ASELSAN Academy by signing protocols with two universities from Istanbul and Ankara within the framework of the four programs that ASELSAN needs. . With the academy coming to life, our staff started to work with our professors whose courses, theses and projects were determined by our universities. With the academy, projects were developed on subjects that our country needed. And today we are proud to give our first graduates ”.

The etiquette, emphasizing that such research university with four campuses of ASELSAN's Academy, "Turkey's highest quality and we have the quality facilities and laboratories. With the Academy, our faculty members can now benefit from these facilities. Our professors, who are included in the academy, continue to support us as a part of the solution on issues that ASELSAN wants to improve. Today we are getting the first fruits of the academy. He ended his speech by saying, “I would like to express my thanks again to those who contributed”.

After the speeches, the awards were presented to the graduating students. Our students who graduated from ASELSAN Academy, Ali Gökoğlu, Buse Özdemir, Gökhan Çelik, Muhammed Yalçın, Ömer Bahadır Acar and Ömer Er received their awards from our Rector Prof. Dr. He took it from Musa Yıldız.

After the graduation ceremony, the winners of the ASELSAN Academy Thesis Award competition, which was organized for the first time in this workshop by ASELSAN Academy, were given their awards.

ASELSAN Academy, the meet effectively the needs of the industry with the world's scientific development, active cooperation with academic experience experience in the sector, the academic work directly to Turkey will continue to work with to meet targets the needs of the Defense Industry. The cooperation protocol signed with the Higher Education Council on August 1, 2017 turned ASELSAN into the campus of 4 leading research universities (GÜ, GTÜ, İTÜ, METU). Academicians from these universities come to the ASELSAN campus and give their lectures, and provide consultancy on thesis issues based on students' fields of study.

ASELSAN Academy, aiming to penetrate this communication rapidly into projects; With the aim of producing pioneering technologies in the fields of Computer, Electrical-Electronics, Mechanical and Materials Engineering and reducing external dependency, it increases the number of students, working areas and projects every year. In the 2020-21 Fall Semester, 170 Master's and 575 Doctoral students continue their education within the scope of ASELSAN Academy, with 70 new students. The number of courses offered in 4 engineering branches this semester has exceeded 80. Students who graduate this year have numerous patent / utility model applications, journal articles and conference papers.
