Following the mandatory use of masks in the fight against coronavirus, there is intense demand for the transparent masks that Izmir Metropolitan Municipality started to produce to facilitate the communication of disabled individuals. 10 thousand transparent masks have been produced and distributed in the Vocational Factory of the Metropolitan Municipality for disabled individuals who have difficulty reading the lips of the other person due to the mask.
There is demand from all over Turkey
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Disability Services Branch Manager Mahmut Akkın said that the transparent masks were designed for the hearing impaired individuals and the personnel who provide services to them in the first stage. particularly disabled associations from all over Turkey, private training schools, many organizations, including disabled employees institutions and pre-school educational institutions, noting both that facilitates communication and is in demand for transparent masks raising awareness, "When schools are opened completely these demands more will increase. The masks produced are sent all over the country, ”he said.
Mahmut Akkın stated that they are preparing to produce 11 thousand more masks, but this will not be enough to meet the demand. Calling other municipalities, Akkın said, "If every municipality produces transparent masks, we will get healthier results."
