Where is El Capitan, How Many Meters Height? El Capitan is a rock formation located in Yosemite National Park. The formation is located on the north side of Yosemite Valley and terminates on the west side. The formation consisting of monolith granite is 900m high. It is visited by rock climbers all over the world. El Capitan rock is the largest mass of granite ever found on the earth's surface.

The formation was named El Capitan after its discovery in 1851 by Mariposa Battalion. El Capitán (meaning captain, leader) is translated from its vernacular name which is To-to-kon oo-lah or To-tock-ah-noo-lah.

Alex Honnold became the first person to climb El Capitan with a free solo method on June 3, 2017. The climb, which started at 5:32 local time and lasted 3 hours 56 minutes, inspired the 2018 documentary Free Solo.
