Who is Suna Pekuysal?

Suna Pekuysal (24 October 1933 - 22 July 2008), Turkish cinema, theater and television actor, voice actor.

His real name is Adile Suna Belener. While studying at the Department of Singing and Ballet at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory, she appeared on the stage for the first time in 1949 in the children's department of the Istanbul City Theater with Kadri Ögelman's play "Artist Wanted". Three years later he moved to the drama section. He married journalist Ergun Koknar in 1964. In 1973, their son Sait Ali Koknar was born.

The artist, who worked at the City Theaters for 54 years, retired from the City Theaters on October 24, 1998.

Suna Pekuysal, who took part in more than 250 theater plays throughout her art life, also appeared in nearly 100 movies. His most prominent role in his last years was the comedy series "Enough Anne", in which he shared the lead role with Özkan Uğur on ATV.

Pekuysal played with Zihni Göktay for 1984 years in the musical “Lüküs Hayat”, which was staged at Istanbul City Theaters in 1933, composed by Ekrem Reşit Rey in 14, composed by Cemal Reşit Rey and staged by Haldun Dormen. The artist, who retired after “Lüküs Hayat”, which gained a great success and brought nostalgia to audiences from all ages, took part as a guest artist in the play “Raspudu”, written by Joseph Kesselring and directed by Çetin İpekkaya, at the City Theaters. Suna Pekuysal has appeared in 53 plays and 250 films in 100 years.

Name each zamthe moment was remembered among the best in Turkish theater. The artist has also appeared in TV series. These include the "Young Indiana Jones" movie of the series and had the subject in Turkey "Istanbul: September 1918" is a fortune teller portrayed in this film.

According to Suna Pekuysal, “The artist cannot be retired”. He wanted to do theater until his death and he insisted: "I want to die on the stage!"

Pekuysal fell at home on 17 July 2008, breaking his hip bone. He was treated and operated at Istanbul Medical Faculty, and then he was taken to intensive care. Pekuysal, who was connected to his breathing apparatus, died on July 22, 2008. Despite being brought back to life with the interventions made; Pekuysal, whose heart stopped at around 10:30, lost his life.

A ceremony was held for Suna Pekuysal at the Istanbul City Theater Reşat Nuri Stage. Istanbul City Theater General Art Director Orhan Alkaya and Suna Pekuysal's son Sait Ali Köknar gave a speech. He was buried in Merkezefendi Cemetery.
