The Field Coordination Meeting, organized by the TEMA Foundation every year, was held online for the first time this year due to the COVID-19 agenda. It was Turkey's 80 provinces and 500 volunteers Headquarters meeting held with the participation of employees of the main inspiration for the Foundation's Honorary Chairpersons of the deceased Hayrettin Karaca, Founder. The theme of the meeting was determined as red, based on Hayrettin Karaca and his red sweater, which symbolizes the philosophy of “I have money but I have no right”. The opening speeches of the meeting, in which A. Nihat Gökyiğit, one of the Founding Honorary President of TEMA Foundation, shared his message via video, were made by Chairman of the Board of Directors Deniz Ataç and General Manager Başak Yalvaç Özçağdaş. The prominent guests of the meeting were the Minister of National Education Prof. Dr. Ziya Selçuk, Member of the Coronavirus Scientific Committee Prof. Dr. Ateş Kara and psychologist-writer Doğan Cüceloğlu.
The Field Coordination Meeting organized every year by the TEMA Foundation, a popular movement that draws its strength from its volunteers, was held online for the first time this year due to the coronavirus epidemic. The meeting started with the screening of the memorial videos prepared for Hayrettin Karaca, one of the Founding Honorary President of TEMA Foundation, who passed away in January, and the opening speeches of Deniz Ataç, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and General Manager Başak Yalvaç Özçağdaş. While Özçağdaş shared the foundation's goals and new projects for the next year, Ataç thanked all the volunteers who have worked for the TEMA Foundation for years with a never-ending energy in the footsteps of Dedeman Toprak, explaining the foundation's strategic goals for the future. Sharing his message with the volunteers on the last day of the meeting, A. Nihat Gökyiğit, one of the Founding Honorary President of the Foundation, stated that we should keep the peace with nature on the agenda by saying that we should not upset the nature.
Minister of National Education Prof. Dr. Ziya Selçuk: "My hope is rising"
One of the guests of the Field Coordination Meeting was Minister of National Education Prof. Dr. It was Ziya Selçuk. While talking about the details of the projects carried out with the TEMA Foundation as the Ministry of National Education, Mr. Minister said that he valued all of them separately; “As the Ministry of National Education, we care that nature is intertwined with education. "We are in an effort to make our students use nature more actively in their learning lives in our recent distance education activities, as well as the usual practices around the world."
Mr. Minister also mentioned about the work done to integrate the learning environments of the students with nature;
“We planned activities that our students and parents would do together in nature during the holiday practices we prepared during the face-to-face education period. This was an opportunity for our students to better understand and absorb the nature, history and geography they live in, and to protect these natural values, and I believe that these plans will be planned in our country in the coming years. During this holiday period, we have planned many studies that our teachers will do in nature, which will give our students personality. These studies were planned with the finest detail in accordance with the conditions of 81 provinces and success was achieved in their implementation.
The saplings that we planted with our students on important days (April 23, in memory of Hayrettin Karaca, etc.) have now become a standard nature work carried out by our students throughout the country. With these activities, our children have brought the saplings to our soil with their own hands.
With the materials we prepared during the distance education period (Friends, Seeds, Holiday books, activities in textbooks, EBATV contents), we direct our children to a learning method that is intertwined with nature. Our child brews yoghurt, takes care of flowers one day, takes nature photographs while walking with his family in nature the other day, another day he searches for acorn at the base of oak trees, grows saplings in pots and brings the sapling he has grown to nature ”.
“As long as our children learn better and better, as long as they resemble the fertile soil, water and lush forests of Anatolia and bloom and bloom. This is all I want as a teacher. Stating that we are willing to work day and night as teachers, Prof. Dr. Ziya Selçuk concluded his speech by thanking the TEMA Foundation and the efforts of all nature volunteer teachers.
Prof. Dr. Ateş Kara: "We humans intervene a lot in the habitats of other creatures in nature"
Prof. Dr. Ateş Kara shared information about the COVID-19 virus and the pandemic process with his presentation. Evaluating the agenda, Prof. Dr. Black; “As our population and consumption increased, we started to intervene in the habitats of other living things. We recently had an ebola epidemic with a very high mortality. The reason for this was that people wanted to open a highway in an area they normally do not live in. "That great epidemic started when chimpanzees, who were taken from their habitats during the construction of the highway, were transmitted to different areas, when the virus they passed on to bats was transmitted to humans," he said. Stating that such epidemics can be experienced from time to time, Kara stated that the concept of single health should be handled together with human, animal, and even plant and environmental health. Psychologist-Author Doğan Cüceloğlu: A meaningful life
The famous psychologist-writer Doğan Cüceloğlu, who attended the meeting with her speech entitled 'Conversation on a Meaningful Life', gave valuable advice along with examples on adding meaning to life. He stated that he sees the TEMA Foundation volunteers as enriching their lives and finding the meaning of life.
During the 3-day meeting, volunteers, Prof. Dr. Bulent GÜLÇUBUK the "An Overview of Turkey Agriculture" and Assoc. Dr. Besides İbrahim Yurtseven's presentations named “Forest and Water”; She listened to the stories of successful volunteers with the panels of “Umut Greening Examples”.
