IWROBOTX unmanned sea sweeper

Unmanned sea cleaning vehicle Seahorse 'Doris' reported the cleaning performed on the shores of Kadıköy for 10 days. In 10 days, Doris collected 40 kg of garbage, 12 percent of which was plastic, from the sea surface.

Developed by the initiative called IWROBOTX and supported by Kadıköy Municipality, the autonomous sea cleaning vehicle 'Doris' made a test drive on the shores of Kadıköy for 10 days. The unmanned boat, advancing with commands given from the land, collected the wastes on the sea surface with the voice command system supported by artificial intelligence. Categorizing garbage according to its type, Doris made a report on waste data and mapped marine pollution in Kadıköy.

DORIS'S 10-DAY KADIKÖY CARNET

Doris collected 10 kg of garbage from the seas of Kadıköy for 12 days. The vessel, which runs on 2 liters of fuel per day, traveled 10 miles a day and collected approximately 1,5 kg of waste. According to Doris data, 40 percent of these wastes are made up of plastics. The remaining waste consists of 33 percent glass, 22 percent paper and other types of waste. List some of the figures reported by Doris, which can separate the wastes it has accumulated in its 1 ton capacity reservoir according to its type: 416 cigarette ends, 381 packages, 67 paper and cardboard, 36 pet bottles. According to Doris, who also reports on which coordinate he collects the waste and maps it, plastic wastes moving fast in the sea with the wind are encountered between 100 and 20 meters, paper wastes between 60 and 0 meters, and glass wastes between 20 and XNUMX meters. Driving between Dalyan and Caddebostan, Doris also prepared a waste and density map and reported the marine pollution in Kadıköy.

'PASS' NOTE TO KADIKOY

Comparing Doris's data with the plastic waste data of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in the Mediterranean, Doris's designer Mustafa Erol said, “The pollution on the shores of Kadıköy is low compared to the Mediterranean in general. According to the WWF report from Turkey to the Mediterranean daily 144 tons of mixed plastic waste. While there is 8 kilograms of plastic waste per kilometer in the Mediterranean, we see that this figure is 0,6 kilograms on the shores of Kadıköy. We were expecting more intense pollution due to urbanization and intensive beach use in Kadıköy. Kadıköy seems to have received a 'passing' mark, but instead of thinking that technologies are cleaning up, we can solve our problems with artificial intelligence and coding, we need to focus on not polluting, protecting and respecting nature. Therefore, education and awareness zammoment is a must, ”he said. - Hibya
