Erzincan - Gümüşhane - Trabzon Railway Platform spokespersons M. Suat Hacısalihoğlu, Şaban Bülbül and Mustafa Yaylalı held a meeting at Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TTSO).
A written statement was made after the meeting where the final status of the Erzincan - Gümüşhane - Trabzon Railway project was evaluated. The statement is as follows:
DESCRIPTION OF ERZİNCAN-GÜMÜŞHANE-TRABZON RAILWAY PLATFORM
Throughout history, the logistics centers of the regions have grown in proportion to the commercial culture of the cities and their past commercial activities.
In this sense, Trabzon has been one of the most important trade and logistics centers of Northern Anatolia and the historical Silk Road throughout history and has maintained this position until today.
The wealth and trade of the inner parts of Eastern Anatolia and the Black Sea region were exported to the world through Trabzon.
Increase their export figures in Trabzon, which is the 18th city in Turkey's exports and of the richness of the broad land to be integrated into the world economy, sea and air transport of the railways in terms of competition with the world beside of transportation has also become an added obligation.
In this context, the Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Trabzon railway line will enable the export of gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, iron, pyrite, antimony, barite, limestone, clay and kaolin mines in Gümüşhane to the world at competitive prices.
Currently, approximately 6.000 people work directly in Gümüşhane mines under limited conditions, and 30.000 people are positively affected indirectly by this action. It is aimed to reduce production costs by contributing to the logistics of mines by rail, to provide 50.000 direct and 200.000 indirect employment by realizing reserves, and to increase the socioeconomic development index of the region through reverse migration. With the increase in mining activities and technology accordingly, the increase in employment and the income of the region from exports will make a great contribution to the economy of the region and increase its competitiveness.
Our last Prime Minister, Mr. Binali Yıldırım, in his speech in Erzincan in 2016, he described as "the will of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk" and heralded that the Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Trabzon railway, which has been expected for more than 100 years, will be built until 2023.
Mr. Yıldırım also emphasized the features of the project in his speech and said, “We brought a railway to Erzincan. Now we will connect Trabzon to Erzincan, from there to Central Asia and Europe. Erzincan - Trabzon railway is the testament of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. We will build the Erzincan - Gümüşhane - Trabzon railway until 2023. Best wishes. There are 2 tunnels, 23 kilometers each. The project part of the "Erzincan - Gümüşhane - Trabzon Railway (infrastructure) survey, project, engineering and consultancy" service procurement work, which was tendered in July 2018, was completed and delivered to the administration.
We are now waiting for the good news of the Erzincan - Gümüşhane - Trabzon Railway to be included in the investment program and the history of the construction tender as the people of the region and the business world.
