About Istanbul Modern Art Museum

Istanbul Modern Art Museum or shortly Istanbul Modern is Turkey's first modern art museum. Established by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) under the leadership of the Eczacıbaşı family, the museum was opened to visitors on 11 December 2004.

Located in Karaköy port, between Mimar Sinan University Faculty of Fine Arts and Tophane-i Amire, Istanbul Modern was brought to life by transforming the warehouse building no.4, which was built as a dry cargo warehouse for TC Denizcilik İşletmeleri, into a museum. New Works, New Horizons

Awards

President Abdullah Gül presented the 2010 Presidential Culture and Art Grand Awards to Cemal Kafadar in the field of history, Ergin İnan in the field of painting, and Oya Eczacıbaşı on behalf of Istanbul Modern as a cultural and artistic institution on Wednesday, December 5th, at the Çankaya Mansion. .

In the evaluation made within the scope of the European Museum Forum (EMF) held in Bursa in 2009, the Istanbul Modern Art Museum received a special award for its expertise in museology, its innovative perspective and the importance it attaches to its visitors.
