A sandstorm occurred in Polatlı district of Ankara. A huge cloud of dust covered the town. The storm is effective in the western and northern parts of the city.
A sandstorm occurred in Polatlı district of Ankara. The sky turned dark because of the storm. Electricity and telephone lines were cut in some parts of Polatlı. Polatlı Mayor Mürsel Yıldızkaya said, "I have not seen such a thing for 50 years" and warned the people of the region to stay at home.
In the statement made on the Twitter account of the General Directorate of Meteorology, the following statements were used:
- According to the data obtained from Ankara radar and the latest evaluations, it is estimated that the expected torrential and thunderstorms in the western and northern parts of Ankara (Polatlı, Ayas, Beypazar, Güdül, Kızılcahamam) will be locally strong in the next 2-hour period.
- Be careful and cautious against possible adverse events such as sudden floods, floods, lightning, small-scale hail and strong wind during precipitation.
