Teknofest Hosted Autonomous Vehicles of the Future

While the countdown for TEKNOFEST, the world's largest Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, continues, the Robotaxi Passenger Autonomous Vehicle Competition organized under the leadership of BİLİŞİM VALLEY, TÜBİTAK and HAVELSAN for autonomous vehicles that will change our future witnessed magnificent moments. The competition, which encourages its participants to gain competence in original design, algorithm and reporting in the field of autonomous vehicle technologies, had exciting moments in Kocaeli Informatics Valley. 

In the competition held in Kocaeli Informatics Valley, a single-person, real-size vehicle autonomously performing various tasks in a real track environment made me proud. Minister of Industry and Technology Mr. Mustafa Varank, Governor of Kocaeli Mr. Seddar Yavuz, Mayor of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mr. Tahir Büyükakın, Teknofest Chief Executive Officer Mr. Fatih Mehmet Kacar, Turkey Technology Team Foundation Mr. Chairman. Haluk Bayraktar, President of TÜBİTAK Mr. Hasan Mandal and General Manager of Informatics Valley Mr. Ahmet Serdar İbrahimcioğlu shared the excitement of our young people in the autonomous vehicle competition in the test track. They visited all the teams prepared for the race in Kocaeli Informatics Valley and got information about the activities of the participants.

High school, associate degree, undergraduate, graduate students and graduates participated in the Robotaxi Passenger Autonomous Vehicle Competition held within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2020 Gaziantep. Young people continue to shape the future in the competition, which is prepared to ensure that autonomous vehicle technologies are developed in our country. The teams participating in the competition performed their duties on a track that reflected the full scale urban traffic situation on the track created in Kocaeli Informatics Valley. A total of 5 teams, 127 from 132 domestic, applied for the Robotaxi Passenger Autonomous Vehicle Competition, which aims to develop autonomous driving algorithms. Among the 17 finalists, 14 teams who successfully passed the technical controls and test stages on the last day of the competition were qualified.
