Another project that will breathe city traffic is being implemented by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality. Offering giant projects that will bring comfort to transportation, Metropolitan is expanding its rail system network by giving priority to public transportation. In this context, a tender was held for the project that will connect the existing Akçaray Tram Line in Izmit district to Kuruçeşme by crossing the D-100 from the Plajyolu Station.
7 FIRM OFFERED
A tender was held for the Kuruçeşme Tram Line, which was approved at the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Assembly Meeting in August. 7 companies submitted bids to the tender held in the Metropolitan Main Service Building as E-Tender. In the tender, the highest bid was given by Metro Istanbul AŞ with 116 million 774 thousand TL, while the lowest bid came from the partnership of HLZ Turizm İnşaat and Gürtur İnşaat with 61 million 321 thousand TL.

A 332 METER STEEL TRAMWAY BRIDGE WILL BE CONSTRUCTED
The tram line to be built between the beach road - Kuruçeşme will pass from the Plajyolu stop to the Kuruçeşme intersection, over the D-100, with a 332 meter steel tram bridge. For going to the current D-100 Istanbul direction, a connection will be provided from the offices of Izmit western toll booths and Kuruçeşme intersection will be rearranged. With the Kuruçeşme Tram Line Construction Work, transportation from İzmit Bus Station to Kuruçeşme will be faster and more comfortable.
1 STATION 2 PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE
Within the scope of the project, 812 station and 1 pedestrian bridges will be built for a total of 2 meters of double line. The existing roads on the route where the tram line passes and the West Highway entrance in the Izmit-Istanbul direction will be renewed. The displacement of the infrastructures on the route will also be made within the scope of this project. A Transformer center will also be established to provide the energy of the line.
TRAM LINE WILL REACH 23.4 KILOMETERS
With the completion of the Kuruçeşme tram line, the length of the tram line will reach a double line of 10.212 meters. With the 3-kilometer single-line warehouse area, the single line length of the tram will reach 23.4 kilometers. With the Kuruçeşme station, the number of stops will reach 16 and 7 transformer centers will serve with the new construction.
