Lexus, a lifestyle brand, announced the 2020 organization results of the prestigious Lexus Design Awards, which it organizes every year. The Grand Prix title, which is the top prize at the eighth Lexus Design Awards, was given to the team named BellTower from Kenya.
BellTower's study called "Open Source Communities" ranked first among 79 applications from 2,042 countries. The program, which started in 2013 to support the designers of the future, continues with the philosophy that better tomorrows are possible by growing and design. The jury evaluated the designs of the participants according to the three main principles of the Lexus brand: “Knowing the Needs in advance”, “Innovation” and “Glamor”.
The “Open Source Communities” study, which won the Grand Prix Award, puts its signature under a smart design to solve the problem of sustainable clean water resources frequently encountered in developing societies. Awarded among 6 finalists, BellTower's design contributes to the strengthening of society while collecting rainwater for safe drinking.
The 2020 Lexus Design Awards were held for the first time with the participation of the virtual jury as required by the conditions. Lexus, which offers young designers the opportunity to showcase their talents in the international arena, has opened their 2021 applications and will continue to receive design applications until October 11. - Hibya
