Erkin Koray (June 24, 1941; Kadıköy, Istanbul), Turkish rock and Anatolian rock artist.

Although he produced original works in Anatolian rock, psychedelic rock and hard rock, he rearranged many songs.

His original works have influenced many musicians with his works in eastern and western music. Cemalim gave the most important works of Anatolian rock and Turkish rock music style by interpreting Turkish folk music, Nihansın Dideden, Kıskanırım, with his works like Köprüden Gelin, and Turkish art music.

Erkin Koray's life was generally in economic difficulties. His breakthroughs and his immensely popular works were not enough to relieve him financially. Choosing music as a way of life, Koray and many original artists of his time could not get rid of these difficulties due to uncertain copyrights, limited working opportunities, the music market with an unhealthy structure and the low purchasing power of the music listeners. Some of them got offended and quit music and were engaged in jobs where they could obtain better financial conditions. Erkin Koray has been one of our artists whose copyrights have been violated the most. This silence, which lasted until 1996, was broken with the ambitious and relatively high-budget album Gün Ola Harman Ola. This work, which did not show great sales success but received positive reviews by critics, was followed by the latest album Devlerin Nefesi, published in 1999.
