Race Connecting Two Continents - Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) with the support of Turkey's National Olympic Committee by 32 and once held Bosphorus Cross Swimming Race, the start of the Youth and Sports Minister Mehmet Kasapoğlu, IMM Chairman Ekrem İmamoğlu, Istanbul Deputy Governor Niyazi Erten, Turkey's National Olympic Committee Uğur Erdener gave it together. On the beach of Kanlıca, the athletes who started to swim with the sound of air horns and the slogan "Continents Unite with Strokes" swam to the finish point in Beşiktaş Kuruçeşme Cemil Topuzlu Park.

- I LOVED THE HIGH INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION-
Finding evaluations during the competition where 120 athletes, 700 of whom were Turkish and 820 of whom were foreigners, competed fiercely, İmamoğlu said, “On one side, marathon and swimming race on the other. There is no other race in the world that unites two continents. Every organization you make between two continents leaves a mark in the world. Knowing the value of this, it is necessary to share all its virtues and qualities with the world. The high international participation made me very happy. "During the corona process, it will be a day like a normalization moment, even if it is mild, for all of us."

- SWATING IN THE BOSPHORUS-
Stating that he will watch the contest with the feeling of "Can I dare or do it next year", İmamoğlu completed his words as follows:
“I've swam in the Bosphorus before. It was a short distance swim, not a long distance swim. Its current is interesting. I'm not bad swimming, I also like the current. I can do this next year by doing a little enjoyable work because I swim in the current seas. "

-THE DEGREE WENT IN ABOUT 50 MINUTES-
Intercontinental swimming athletes completed 6,5 kilometers by swimming. In the competition where the youngest swimmer is 14 years old and the oldest swimmer is 90 years old; Hilal Zeynep Saraç came in first with her time of 47 minutes and 52 seconds in women. Ilgın Çelik came second with 48 minutes and 13 seconds, while Sudenaz Çakmak came third with 48 minutes 46 seconds.
In men, Mustafa Serenay ranked first with his time of 46 minutes 1 second. Atahan Kireşçi came second with 46 minutes and 20 seconds, while Atakan Malgil came third with 47 minutes 31 seconds.
-IBB SUPPORTED-
Having supported the event for years, IMM continued to support this year's contest in different areas. By allocating Beşiktaş Kuruçeşme Cemil Topuzlu Park as an activity area, IMM cleans the park, the sea and the shores, and kept a fire truck ready right next to the park. İBB, which also announced the organization free of charge in the advertising areas, also offered three ferries free of charge.

- MADE IN THE SHADE OF THE PANDEM-
Unlike previous years, within the framework of the pandemic rules, nobody except swimmers and staff members were allowed to Kuruçeşme Cemil Topuzlu Park in the competition, which was held with the participation of athletes from 46 countries. The event was held without spectators and attendants. While the number of boats was increased to 3 in order to protect the social distance, approximately 100 people were allowed to board the sports boats, below the limit of 700 people determined by the Provincial Health and Hygiene Directorate.
