Ericsson reached an important milestone in the 100G process by signing its 5th commercial 5G contract with different service providers operating in different countries. The figure includes 5 contracts and 58 live 56G networks that are publicly disclosed and spread over 5 continents.
This milestone, which is of great importance in terms of 5G processes, was reached with the 12G agreement signed with Telekom Slovenije on 5 August. Ericsson has been working together with major service providers since the first day of its 5G R&D activities. The company announced its first public 5G partnership in 2014.
Tests and trials of 5G New Radio (NR) technology followed partnerships and memorandums of understanding (MoU) for the development of technologies. Afterwards, commercial agreements and network applications were announced. The first live commercial application was in 2018.
These contracts signed by Ericsson cover the Radio Access Network (RAN) and Core network portfolios provided by products and solutions in Ericsson Radio System and Ericsson core network distributions.
Ericsson's 5G distributions include 5G Non-Standalone, 5G Standalone and Ericsson Spectrum Sharing technologies, and Ericsson's dual-mode 5G Core structure, as well as native capabilities.
Ericsson has implemented high, medium and low band 5G implementations in different urban, suburban and rural environments to support business situations for advanced mobile broadband and fixed wireless access. In some advanced 5G markets, communication service providers offer 5G powered augmented reality and virtual reality services in education, entertainment and games.

Ericsson also worked with service providers, universities, technology institutes and industry partners to develop and track 5G business and consumer use cases. These use cases include factory automation, smart offices, remote surgery, other corporate and Industry 4.0 applications.
Several partnerships have resulted in the implementation of 5G-specific networks, including Ericsson's manufacturing facilities around the world.
