Raider Assault Unmanned Aerial Vehicle to Start Duty in 2020

The second prototype of Bayraktar AKINCI TİHA (Attack Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), which was developed by BAYKAR with domestic and national facilities, successfully completed the flight tests. The second prototype of Bayraktar AKINCI TİHA was airborne for 20 hours and 6.1 minutes at an average altitude of 2 thousand feet (approximately 26 km) during the Medium Altitude System Verification Test flight. The tests of AKINCI TİHA are carried out with two prototypes.

The integration process of the third prototype of the Bayraktar AKINCI TİHA project, in which the first delivery is planned to be carried out by the end of the year, continues at the Baykar National SİHA R&D and Production Center. The third prototype will be sent to Çorlu Airfield Command to perform test flights after the integration is completed.

Baykar Defense Technical Manager Selçuk Bayraktar, who was a guest at the Inspection Days with Alev Alatlı, announced that Akıncı Attack Unmanned Aerial Vehicle will start its duty in 2020. Bayraktar stated in his speech that the first AKINCI TİHA will be used by security forces in 2020. After the heavy work of Baykar Defense engineers, the first prototype of the tactical unmanned aerial vehicle AKINCI TİHA realized its first flight in December 2019.

12 engines were supplied from Ukraine for AKINCI TİHA

In May 2020, “National Industrial Portal” operating in Ukraine announced that 2 more Ivchenko-Progress Engine Sich AI-450T type Turboprop engines were supplied by Baykar Defense for AKINCI TİHA. In the transfer, it was emphasized that the second prototype was also preparing its first flight, and it was stated that it was planned to reach 500 km / h in the flight test.

Baykar Defense stated that 12 Ivchenko-Progress Engine Sich AI-450T type Turboprop engines have been procured for AKINCI TİHA so far, and information on the procurement schedule was also included. From Ivchenko-Progress Engine Sich AI-450T type Turboporp engine by Baykar Savunma; 2018 units were supplied in 4, 2019 in 6 and 2020 in 2.
