FNSS Savunma Sistemleri A.Ş continues to deliver PARS and KAPLAN STA to Turkish Land Forces Command within the scope of the Weapon Carrier Vehicle (STA) project.
The Weapon Carrier Vehicles (STA) Project, which was launched in line with the needs of the Turkish Land Forces Command, continues successfully. Nail KURT, General Manager and CEO of FNSS Defense, announced that until June 23, 2020, 26 STA vehicles were delivered to the Land Forces and the last two vehicles were equipped with the Medium Range Antitank (OMTAS) Missile Tower developed by Roketsan. FNSS continues its production activities and deliveries of PARS 4 × 4 and KAPLAN-10 vehicles equipped with anti-tank missiles.
Weapon Carrier Vehicles (STA) Project
In accordance with the decision taken at the meeting of the Defense Industry Executive Committee held on 9 March 2016, FNSS Savunma Sistemleri A.Ş. The contract with Arms Carrier Vehicles (STA) Project Contract was signed on 27 June 2016 with a ceremony organized by the Defense Industry Directorate.
The tender process within the scope of the project; It is planned to integrate anti-tank missiles, which are in the inventory of the Land Forces Command, and which have been developed domestically, into armored vehicles with anti-tank turrets to be developed specifically for the project, in order to increase combat effectiveness. With the project, a total of 260 anti-tank systems in crawler and wheel type will be supplied. The anti-tank weapon system turrets, which are developed with modern firing and command control capabilities, are equipped with a 7.62 mm machine gun as well as a ready-to-fire anti-tank missile.
FNSS produces the lightest member of the KAPLAN vehicle family as part of the STA project as a tracked vehicle (184) and the PARS 4 × 4 vehicle as a wheelchair (76) anti-tank vehicle. In this context, the first serial production STA delivery was delivered to the Turkish Land Forces Command in March 2020.
STA vehicles use the Russian origin KORNET-E, which is in the Turkish Land Forces inventory, and the OMTAS Anti-Tank Missile developed by Roketsan with local opportunities.
