Izmir Metropolitan Municipality celebrated the 97th anniversary of the Lausanne Peace Treaty with a series of events from the movie screening to the opening of the exhibition. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, due to the 97th anniversary of the Lausanne Peace Treaty, “Always in the light of the Lausanne Treaty!” organized a series of events with the slogan. The ex-Minister of Culture, Professor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Tunç Soyer, participated in the program, which includes film screenings, exhibitions, presentations and music concerts. But the way that every libertarian who loves the Republic looks at Lausanne is certain. Best of the Republic of Turkey signed in Lausanne in this country has been free. This is a status we earned thanks to İsmet Pasha, the second biggest person of the Republic, who signed Lausanne, especially Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. I wish mercy from those who sign. They make us live in a free country. We will celebrate Lausanne every year with the same belief. This nation, which understands the meaning of the Republic better, is digesting Lausanne a little more day by day and preparing for more enthusiastic celebrations. ”

Exhibitions Open for 15 Days

The events started with the animation film screening of the Lausanne Conference at the Castle Library. The "Lausanne Peace Treaty Exhibition" was opened in front of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Service Building. Photographs taken during the negotiations in Lausanne, Switzerland, the correspondence between the delegation and the Ankara, and the news that Lausanne reflected in the Izmir press, met with the Izmir residents in the section of the Konak square entrance of the Metropolitan Municipality building. The exhibition can be visited for 15 days.

The program continued with an open field exhibition "Lausanne in the Light of Documents" at Kültürpark Uzun Havuz. The exhibition, which contains many documents, photographs and newspaper clippings, mostly from the APİKAM archive, can be visited for free for 15 days. A movie screening about the Lausanne Peace Treaty was also held at the same place. After the screening, he performed saxophone and side flute. Within the scope of the event series, the book "Lausanne Peace Treaty in 90 Questions" prepared by Gürer Karagedikli was also distributed to Izmir residents.
