Selçuk Yaşar (born 17 January 1925, Rhodes) is a Turkish businessman. founder of Yasar Holding, one of Turkey's leading companies and is the honorary president.
He was born in Rhodes to a mother from Istanbul and a father from Rhodes. Selçuk Yaşar and his family, whose father was a paint trade, moved to İzmir in 1931. The family, who opened a shop in Kemeraltı Ribbon Bazaar, continued to trade here as well. He completed his primary and secondary education at Saint Joseph in Izmir and his high school education at Saint Joseph French High School in Kadıköy, Istanbul.
Having started his business life in his father's paint shop in Kemeraltı Stripçiler Bazaar, Yaşar later established Dyo in 1954 with his father and brother to produce in the paint industry and started manufacturing. DYO is Turkey's first paint factory.
Selçuk Yaşar observed that SEK's milk collection and processing capacity was insufficient and saw that the villagers poured the milk they could not sell into the streams. In addition, while there is a great potential in the Izmir region, animal husbandry cannot develop due to the insufficient purchases of SEK. So the investment decision taken in 1973 with the foundation was laid and in 1975 the Middle East's largest milk production facility in operations in Pinar Milk Turkey is the first time in Tetra Pak boxes, manufactured using UHT technology perennials started to produce milk.
He is the founder of Yaşar Education and Culture Foundation and Selçuk Yaşar Sports and Education Foundation. Selçuk Yaşar Alaybey Primary School in İzmir Karşıyaka through the foundations it established, BayraklıHe built Durmuş Yaşar Secondary School in Istanbul and Selçuk Yaşar Boyacılık Sanayi Vocational High School in Bornova and Yaşar Education and Culture Foundation Alaçatı Multi-Program High School in Alaçatı. He also pioneered the establishment of Yaşar University. Yaşar also served as the Honorary Consulate General of Denmark in İzmir for many years.
He founded the company with first-resistant milk production in Turkey (UHT) allowing it to conduct. TUSIAD ESİAD with Turkey Industrialists and Businessmen's Association co-founder of the Aegean Industrialists and Businessmen's Association. He is the Chairman of Karşıyaka SK Honorary Board.
Selçuk Yaşar is married with three children and speaks French and English.
