Tunnel excavation is completed in Ataköy-İkitelli Metro, which will be integrated with five different rail system lines and Metrobus. The two tunnels of the 13,5 km long line, where the excavation work underground has reached the final stage, will be united with a ceremony to be attended by İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) continues to take decisive steps to complete its metro projects. The excavation works of İkitelli-Ataköy Metro Line, which will be put into service in the region where there is traffic density due to large human mobility, is coming to an end. The two tunnels of the project, which has passed through a total of five districts, will unite tomorrow at 9.30, at the ceremony attended by İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu. The program will include İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu and İBB bureaucrats and executives of contractor companies.
The construction of Ataköy-İkitelli Metro, which started slowly in 2016 despite its construction, started to accelerate again in July 2019 and progress was made in the tunnel excavation. In the tunnel excavation, two thirds of which were completed from the day the construction started to June 2019, the remaining part was completed in a year.
İkitelli-Ataköy Metro Line consisting of 11 stations; Starting from İkitelli Industrial Station of the existing (M3) Başakşehir - Olympic - Kirazlı Metro Line, it ends at Ataköy Station by following a corridor parallel to Basın Ekspres Connection Road connecting the TEM and D100 Highway. The metro, which will take between İkitelli and Ataköy in 23 minutes, can carry 72 thousand passengers per hour.
The project, passing through Bakırköy, Bahçelievler, Küçükçekmece, Bağcılar and Başakşehir districts, will be integrated with five rail systems and Metrobus:
- At the İkitelli Station, (M3) Başakşehir - Olimpiyat - Kirazlı Metro Line's Olympic - İkitelli Industrial segment
- At Mehmet Akif Station, (M7) Kabataş - Mahmutbey - Esenyurt Metro
- Mimar Sinan Cad. At the station, (M1B) Yenikapı - Kirazlı - Halkalı Metro
- At Yenibosna Station, (M1A) Yenikapı-Atatürk Airport Metro Line and Metrobus
- Marmaray Line at Ataköy Station
