Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu gave the good news that Istanbulites, who will set out due to the Eid al-Adha holiday, will be put into service temporarily between the North Marmara Motorway Kocaeli Sevindikli Junction and TEM Izmit East Junction.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu announced that they took a series of measures on the highways due to the Eid al-Adha holiday. Pointing out that the holiday started as of 31 July and that some citizens will combine the summer holiday with the holiday, Karaismailoğlu said that they expect millions of citizens to go on the road.
The first two days of Arefe and Eid are Istanbul-Anatolia, and the third and fourth days are Anatolian-Istanbul.
Minister Karaismailoğlu said that they have taken measures to significantly reduce the traffic jams in each holiday in Istanbul.
In this context, Karaismailoğlu explaining that they will open traffic between the Northern Marmara Motorway Project Kurtköy-Akyazı Section Section-5 Kocaeli Sevindikli Junction and Section-6 Izmit East Junction. On the night of Wednesday, 29 July, starting from 00:01 on the first and second days of Arefe, vehicles traveling from Istanbul to Anatolia from the emergency crossing point following the Kocaeli Sevindikli Junction, from the southern road to the north transport road, from the emergency pass at the 191 km. will be transferred back to the southern transport route.
Thus, at the beginning of the feast, it will serve only in the direction of Istanbul-Anatolia in one direction between Kocaeli Sevindikli Junction and Izmit East Junction. On the third day of the holiday, starting from 2 on the night of August 00.01, until August 5 on the night of August 24.00, traffic flow will be provided temporarily in the direction of Anatolia-Istanbul from the north transport road. ”
Long Vehicle Queues Will Be Blocked
Karaismailoğlu stated that with the opening of the section in question, the vehicles coming from Istanbul direction can be connected to the north of Izmit and Izmit-Kandira state road in the Cayirkoy area and to the TEM Istanbul-Ankara motorway between Kandira and East Izmit intersections, in the north of Izmit.
Emphasizing that an alternative, fast, safe and comfortable new transportation corridor to TEM Highway and D-100 Highway, which is exposed to high traffic volume between Istanbul and Kocaeli by this way, will be opened, Karaismailoğlu said, “Thus, Kocaeli and Sakarya, where there are dense industrial and industrial areas from Istanbul, Transportation to the provinces will be easier. With the ease of transportation between Istanbul and Kocaeli, the travel time from Istanbul to Ankara will also be shortened. Especially during the long holidays, there are long vehicle queues on the existing TEM highway and D-100 Highway in the direction of going from Istanbul to Anatolian provinces and returning from Anatolia to Istanbul at the end of the holiday. "By opening this road, we plan to block the long vehicle queues on the existing TEM highway and D100 highway, thus saving our citizens from traffic."
6 Intersections Will Be Active
Minister Karaismailoğlu said that the length of Kocaeli Sevindikli Junction and Izmit East Junction road, which will be put into service temporarily during the holiday, is a total of 26,3 kilometers, 9,1 kilometers of main body and 35,4 kilometers of connection road. Underlining that there are 6 intersections that will become active with the opening of this section, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that with the opening of the mentioned line, 398 km of the Northern Marmara Highway, which is 321,2 kilometers long, will start to serve.
Karaismailoğlu stated that with the end of the holiday traffic, the section in question will be closed to traffic and secondary works will be completed and then the road will be put into service completely.
