Balçova Cable Car Facilities Reopened

The cable car facilities in Balçova, which are closed due to coronavirus measures, are opened today. Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer went to Dede Mountain by Cable Car and toured the promenade area. In the facility, which will serve between 12.00 and 20.00 according to the rules of hygiene and distance, 8 people are taken to the 4-person gondola gondolas and visitors without a mask are not accepted.

The Cable Car Facilities in Balçova, which have not received visitors since last March due to coronavirus measures, were reopened today with the normalization process. Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer visited the facility whose maintenance and improvement works were completed during the time it was closed before the opening. Reaching Dede Mountain by taking the cable car gondola, Mayor Soyer examined the arrangements made by paying attention to hygiene and social distance rules, and watched İzmir and Balçova Dam from the viewing terrace. Stating that the Cable Car Facilities is one of the symbol points of İzmir with its magnificent view and extraordinary nature, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer said, “Our facility, which has been closed for a while with the coronavirus measures, has been opened. I invite Izmir residents to experience and share this beauty. ”

Measures taken

Necessary preparations have been completed within the scope of corona precautions at the facility where improvement and maintenance works are carried out in automation and electrical systems. Gondolas, passengers' touches, promenade area, cafes and restaurants were disinfected; A visor was placed in the middle of the gondola. A fire measurement device was placed at the entrance of the facility. While the waiting points of the visitors who will enter using a ticket or İzmirim card are separated from each other, safe distance points where citizens will stop are created to protect the social distance during the waiting period. Contactless hand dryers with antimicrobial coating were placed in the toilets. The viewing terrace has been renewed using antibacterial floor tiles.

Gondolas will operate at 50 percent capacity

8 people are taken to the 4-person gondola gondolas, a maskless visit is not accepted to the facility and a fire measurement is made at the entrance. Restaurants and cafes on Gondolas and Dede Mountain will be regularly disinfected. While seating areas in restaurants and cafes are arranged according to the social distance rule, service personnel are provided to serve according to the hygiene rules.

4 tops in minutes

The cable car gondolas at the Cable Car Facility, run by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality İZULAŞ company, go up to Balçova Dede Mountain with a height of 4 meters in about 432 minutes, giving vacationers the opportunity to watch İzmir from a different angle. Visitors who have the chance to watch İzmir panoramicly during the 810-meter line, can take advantage of the facilities and the promenade area in a unique nature, in the green of pine trees, in a clean air. In the promenade area, there are 5 cafeterias operated by Grand Plaza A.Ş, a company of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, and a meat house where controlled barbecue services are provided.

Balçova Cable Car Facility will be open between 12.00-20.00 as before. Ticket sales will end at 19.00. The facility, which operates 6 days a week, will be closed on Mondays for weekly maintenance. Children 0 to 5 years old are not charged.
