Nationalization efforts have been accelerated within the National and Local Product Development Board established in early 2018 in order to reduce the dependency on foreign materials used in ASELSAN's product range, to produce products that have difficulties in the supply process nationally / locally, to decrease supply costs and times, and to gain technological competence.
Consisting of representatives from Sector Presidencies, Deputy General Manager of Technology and Strategy Management and Industrialization and Procurement Directorate, the board should be procured nationally and locally, by considering all the imported products, taking into account criteria such as the importance of technology, export restrictions, cost impact and lead time. determines the products.
A detailed review and study has been started for approximately 20 thousand products within the Board. In the first phase, while 300 products were decided to be developed and manufactured with domestic facilities, this number was later increased to 450. Brochures prepared for materials that are deemed appropriate to be nationalized, are presented to the information of the industry and commerce chambers, which include defense industry clusters, organized industrial zones, which provide many capabilities at the same time, and competent firms that can produce solutions for complex defense projects, and many companies with different competencies in its portfolio.
Products are nationalized, new ones are on the way
In this context, approximately 350 applications were received in the last 400-100 years for over 1 brochures published for 1,5-400 products. Currently, negotiations and production processes for about 100 products are ongoing. The verification and approval phase for all 10 products continues. Within the scope of nationalization of 17 different product ranges with 29 companies until today, domestic orders have been opened for 24 products. According to the forecasts for the next 3 years, the amount returned from abroad for 24 products, which was nationalized, reached the level of 25 million dollars.
ASELSAN will continue its nationalization efforts by prioritizing institutional needs, needs of defense industry projects and country interests.
