The Adalar District Governorate rejected the application made by İBB for the use of 60 electric vehicles on the grounds that the Highway Traffic Law was not complied with. Administrative fines will be imposed on vehicles that will be used without permission by following the rules.

Since Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) was not deemed to comply with the Highway Traffic Law, the electric vehicles to be used instead of horse carriages were not permitted from the Adalar District Governorate.

The written statement of the District Governorate is as follows: “Please write 15.06.2020-88894955-622.01 dated 24130 of the General Directorate of Istanbul Electric Tram and Tunnel Operations. In accordance with the relevant legislation, your request will be evaluated if you apply with mandatory documents, and in the event that vehicles are trafficked without related documents, administrative fines will be imposed by the relevant articles of the Highway Traffic Law and vehicles will be banned from traffic. ”
