Built for only two years, the Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a tribute to the most exclusive model of the 1960s. But today, the legendary model is merged with Shelby DNA, the legend returns.
It can be seen that Ford wants to embrace our nostalgic feelings in design. All the graphics and racing lines are reminiscent of the original model released in 1969. However, there is a modernized air duct at the front.
New air ducts mean that the ventilation system on the hood will not be in the new model. But Ford engineers are ensuring that the modified 5.0-liter V8 engine gets enough air.
It means that Mach 1 equals Bullitt's power. But unlike Bullitt, Mach 1 owners will have the option of a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Buyers prefer zamIt can also use the Tremec 6-speed manual gearbox. The vehicle, which has the Shelby skeleton under its skin, has also been renewed.
According to Ford, Mach 1 will serve as a bridge between GT and Shelby models. This means that the vehicle will have a powerful engine and good handling.
According to Ford Icons manager Dave Pericak, the vehicle will be “the most prone to track driving among Mustangs with a 5.0-liter engine”.
Mustang chief engineer Carl Widmann: “Looking back in history, the automatic transmission works better with Mach 1. This tool is a global tool. So it will be sold in more than 50 countries.
Of course, Mach 1 has many new equipment that distinguishes itself from the cars mentioned. Ford's design boss Gordon Platto said they wanted the vehicle to remain true to its origins. For this reason, the front and grille of the vehicle are designed to refer to older models.
Buyers can buy classic wheelsets called Mach 1 Magnum 500. However, Ford also offered users the option to replace these wheels with their performance versions. The rear wing of the GT500 will also be among the equipment to be sold with Mach 1.
Having a new information entertainment system in the cabin, Mach 1 comes with a special plate showing the chassis number.
Recaro brand seats will be among the equipment options, but the net price of the vehicle has not been announced for now.
All details of Mach 1 will be announced before the spring of 2021.
